Open Sky is honored to announce the addition of our newest team member,
Katie Grace MacElveen, PhD. In addition to holding her
doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Dr. MacElveen brings rich and diverse professional experiences to Open Sky.
She has clinical experience in inpatient adolescent and adult psychiatric settings as well as private practice. Dr. MacElveen's clinical specialties include
addiction recovery,
grief and
trauma,
transitions,
emotional and behavioral difficulties, and
educational challenges. She has also successfully launched two children of her own, who are dynamic young adults, now in their 20's.
In addition to her vast experience as a practitioner, Dr. MacElveen taught psychology and communications classes to young adults in several colleges and universities, including Naropa University, Fort Lewis College, and the
Duke University MBA program. She has had an organizational consulting business that has taken her to many parts of the world to support high performance leadership and diversity awareness in firms including UBS, Motorola, and Microsoft.
Dr. MacElveen will be taking over the leadership as clinical therapist of our young adult team from Gregory Martin, MA. Gregory served as our young adult therapist at Open Sky for the last three years and completed his employment with us at the end of August 2009. Gregory was a leader in developing the rich and powerful young adult program at Open Sky.
After more than a decade in the industry, Gregory is taking a sabbatical from wilderness therapy and is on to new pursuits. We are incredibly grateful for the service Gregory has provided to students, families and to our Open Sky community.
