Jim Sir

because it wasnt jim's job to do that, it was his counselors. Jim was like a logistics/staff coordinator. he decided what staff goes with what students to which activity. he held the keys to all the rooms. he arranged some of the off campus trips. thats it. that was the extent of his job. in no way shape or form was jim sir a part of the "therapeutic" element of the program.

--- Quote ---this kinda reminds me of the movie full metal jacket. you're friend's lardass baby is like gomer pyle (the guy who shot himself on the toilet), and Jim Sir is like the drill sergeant. Gomer Pyle was just a weakling that did not belong in boot camp in the first place, and would have been a liability on the battlefield anyway; and it was his own fault for not getting with the program and loosing some weight. He just wanted to be coddled by his mamma, and couldnt take some guy screaming in his face with a grain of salt. Jim sir was alot more mellow than that drill sergeant, ALOT more mellow. Survival of the fittest. Natural selection. that's all i got to say.
--- End quote ---

You are completely fucked up if you want to compare a kid who was placed in a program because of behavioral issues (albiet some driven by his weight) to someone who voluntarily joined the military. I'm sure glad HLA told us about this mentality before we entrusted our kids to them.

Sorry, but you're a little too defensive there pal about your buddy Jim Sir.
--- End quote ---

Not voluntarily, watch the movie. he was drafted.

defensive? no. I'm just trying to keep you from dancing on his grave. it's disrespectful.

and according to you, kids need to be coddled, and any and all jokes and sarcastic comments never uttered in their presence to prevent their fragile self-esteem from shattering. Of course, that's the best way to make sure the kid grows up to be strong and healthy, because when they encounter someone who is seriously mean in the real world, that way they wont break down crying and shoot themselves on the toilet like gomer pyle.

what's next, the elimination of sharp edges from all surfaces, the introduction of seat belts for golf karts, and the replacement of lead ammunition worldwide with nurf?

thank you for reminding us all about your strong survival instinct. I'm sure when the shit hits the fan you'll be the first to go.

Even though Jim was a senior citizen with cancer, he was strong as an ox. I wonder if you'll be as strong as him when you're 70 with cancer, considering how you value inner strength....

this is a thread on jim sir's death. not on why HLA is fucked up. everyone knows how and why HLA is is fucked up. Jim sir had no part in the fucked up part of HLA. I'm sure HLA fucked up by not telling you alot of things....like, oh, say, warn you about the truly abusive wannabe drill sergeant (rob hyde), or the sadistic psycho-downie klee hall. maybe you should focus on them, instead of pointing your finger at anyone who had anything to do with HLA. Hidden lake was full of good people, it was just the few rotten apples that ruined it for everyone.

So, this "lardass"  you refer to:  did the methods work?  Was he inspired by this Jim guy to lose weight?
What was his condition when he left?

If it's who i'm thinking of (Brian L**B), he did loose a little weight, but not because of jim. it's because he no longer had access to endless quantities of food on demand, and was forced to actually walk around once in a while. Brian was actually allowed a pass on all strenuous aerobic activity at the school, due to his parent's wussification. when everyone else did PT, brian was allowed to stroll around in circles. so please, dont complain about him getting made fun of by jim, he had it easy in comparison to other people.

As mentioned before, jim had no part in the therapeutic or academic aspects of the program. He did not inspire anyone to do anything.

Oh, and i forgot. Brian was only 50 pounds heavier than me when we both entered HLA. He lost some weight, but i lost more, because he was still around a hundred pounds heavier than me upon graduation. Jim sir picked on me too, for being a lardass. I never took it personally, and he never inspired me to break down crying or to loose weight. I lost weight because i felt i needed to, for personal reasons. for SELF-ESTEEM. for getting chicks. Mr. complaining lardass obviously did not put that high a value on his own self esteem.... :roflmao: , which is why he cried like a baby to his mommy when a 70 year old man with cancer called him fat.
