why the fuck do I have this?
« on: September 11, 2009, 01:13:26 AM »
I'm  doing fall cleaning (purging) right now, and Im almost embarrassed to share this, but it's so bizarre (for me, anyway) I felt compelled to.

I found my children's reunion toy car.

It shocked the hell out of me, because initially, I had no idea how it got into my house. The last time I saw it was probably *at* RMA on my nightshelf. Then I remembered that when my dad moved, he sent me all of my old crap he had been keeping in the basement.. most of it being stuff I brought home right after I left Idaho and hasn't seen the light of day since the 80s.

That wasnt the oldest thing I found, though. The oldest was an old matchbox fiat abarth with a hatch-style roof/windshield/door. That car and I were inseparable when I was about 9.

I tossed em both out. along with about a hundred pounds of other stuff. I have enough toys. (Although I did find all of the weapons and missile launchers for my voltron and kept those suckers for sure. Wish I had those missiles.)

What was the weirdest thing you ever found after god knows how many years? (doesnt have to be cedu-related)

Even though I've moved about every six to nine months for the last couple of years I still have the oddest things stuffed in the bottom of my pack.  Can't for the life of me understand why I'm still hauling around my monkey bear, even though I'm 34 years old. But none the less the ol' thing has been in the bottom of my pack in Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Phillipines, All over China, even went with me to Mexico when I was a kid.

Must be some sort of attachment to the vile critter.

Here's monkeybear drinking a softdrink out in front of a supo in South Korea.

Can't remember what country this one is front, I think it might be Korea but it could be Vietnam.

yeah, he's a trooper. I still laugh when I look at his ear and I can see where my dog chewed the hell out of it about 10 or more years ago.

every propheet has what is known as a reunion. Propheets got out on saturday. that monday, instead of going to a rap, you went to the reunion.

Reunions, if memory serves, was a brief (rap length) re-hash of the main points of the propheet, except that it was designed as a mellow, feel goodsy, warm fuzzy type thing.

The children's propheet, of course, dealt with all of that inner child bullshit. So at the end of the reunion, each kid got a toy car to represent their inner child. I think they were given to you with your eyes closed, so it could be a suprise! wheeee!

I might have been ok with a transformer, but a toy car? That's just fucking cheap.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with teens (or nerdy adults) being into things like toy cars, or stuffed animals/dolls, whatever. (I still have my voltron and thundercats) But that place put a huge creepy spin on it. Everybody had their "stuffies" and read books that were way too young for us (such as goodnight moon, etc.). Hope For the Flowers was actually part of the full-time library. The imagine propheet INVOLVED stuffed animals, as you were given your favorite one after you were head-fucked so you could sit and cry into it.

I was totally into all of that shit. Going back to when I was younger and felt safer made me feel.... well... safer.
