Craig Hansen LCSW leaves Cross Creek for Distant Drums

When I was at Cross Creek they were always threatening and sending kids to Distant Drums.  Now a Cross Creek therapist is becoming the Clinical Director at Distant Drums.  I always thought there was a wwasp connection and now we know.

In fairness, that itself doesn't prove WWASP owns Distant Drums or has any stake in it.  Employees leave companies for other companies all the time.  In addition, it's not listed on WWASP's internal phone directory.  I'd be happy to be proven wrong, though.  Anything is possible.

It probably has more to do with the dramatic downsizing of Cross Creek than it does with there being a connection.  I should mention the place now only has like four girl and boy groups (in comparison to when I was there, which was seven and eight), and only liek 160 students in comparison to 300 or so.

I never heard of kids being threatened with Distant Drums, but back when I was at Cross Creek, Tranquility Bay still existed, so . . .

I remember a night staff saying to be thankful I wasn't at Cinnamon Hills because they would make kids wear hula hoops everywhere as a punishment.

I'm guessing Craig Hansen (and I remember him; I did not like him) probably was either laid off (could've happened considering the liquidating of groups.  I know Group 6 was Mr. Hansen's and that was gone) or he left of his own will, knowing Cross Creek wouldn't last too long or figured he was better of somewhere else.

They stopped sending kids to Jamaica and then anyone that pissed ron or craig off always went to distant drums.  I'm guessing 40 in a year.  You never heard of kids going anywhere else.  Everytime ron come into group to threaten someone it was about rice, bean, cold weather.  He would talk about how so and so is doing up there in wilderness.  When they would come back he would parade them around to all the group therapies as some kind of walking deterrent. WIth all the programs out there, it seems that there must have been some deal or some connection between them.

Man, that sucks.  I guess they needed someway to feel in control of the kids and feed their power hunger when TB stopped accepting new kids.  I'll tell you two kids took down a staff member and didn't leave Cross Creek.

It could be connected to WWASP, but at the same time, it doesn't necessarily need to be run by WWASP to be working with them.  Some kids came from Cross Creek from Wilderness, and as far as I'm aware, there were no wilderness WWASP programs out there.
