Video of teenage party in Denmark

As other countries we are talking about alcohol and youth. For more info about our culture read this webpage.

Here is a video showing a sweet sixteen birthday.

To break it down. The kids prepare the party and start mixing drinks with alcohol. The parents from several families drop by to see if everything is order. When the party starts in a tent in the garden, parents of half the participants gather in the house where they talk about everyday issues. Only once in a while they go out and check the tent for people who are not on the guestlist.

The party goes on quietly. None of the teenagers want to drink so much that they cannot stay to the very end. They might go home drunk but it is not the kind of binge drinking which kills teenagers in other countries. Also there is no drugs because the teenagers can choose any alcohol product the went to buy down at the shop when they turn 16.

The clip ends up with an interview with an expert who recommend not to have strict rules but to use manipulation by recommending a lesser amount to your child because any must realize that they drink more just to prove a point.

But does stricter regulation not result in an underground movement? How do parents keep an eye on the party life in the US?

they dont. either they ban it altogether or they pretend they dont know what's going on.....e.g they go stay at a hotel for a night.

knowingly allowing underage drinking to occur in your home as an adult is a felony in most states. you can go to prison and kids taken into foster care. in some places parents are allowed to drink only with their own children, and even that practice is becoming illegal in more places.

in the U.S, teenage parties get very loud. neighbors call the police almost always. When the police arrive, if the parent to whom the house belongs to is present and underage kids are drinking, the parent goes to jail. so does anyone over 21 who can be proven to have provided alcohol for the kids; while the drunk kids get off with a warning.

pretty idiotic system if you ask me. you danes know how to run things much better.
