The German government has a close look at various groups due to something in their history. They are not too happy about Scientology because the way of looking at the world in black and white reminds them of something they have seen before.

In Denmark a man from France died of hunger because he believe too much, so he kind of punished himself when he believed that he was a failure.

Because cults tend to operate in similar manners and learn from each other.  Other stuff is common sense or comes naturally to the leader.
