I Got No Strings On Me

AARC and the Provincial Government have consistently down-played the heavy involvement of Alberta Government officials in the promotion of AARC.  As part of this obfuscation, AARC has removed the Provincial Coat of Arms from their website, and ditched this factually challenged pitch from former Alberta Justince Minister Ron Stevens:
http://web.archive.org/web/200310010312 ... ansard.htm
Judge Stevens emits a number of knee-slappers, claiming that AARC model was based on the research and analysis of Dean Vause.  This may be true, with the exception of course of the use of raps, host homes, Oldcomer/Newcomer power dynamic, program jargon, uneducated peer counselors, unqualified clinical staff, coercive group confrontation, isolation of initiates for months, and a few other practises identical to those in the unbroken chain leading from Art Barker's Seed to Mel Sembler's Straight to Miller Newton's Kids, right to Dean Vause's AARC.
Another bit of jocularity from Judge Stevens is his claim that AARC was reviewed by international addictions experts.  Judge Stevens goes so far as to include a quote from Union Institute faculty member Robert McAndrews, whom Stevens numbers among these addictions experts.  Other than AARC's claim that he is such, it seems that there is no evidence whatsoever indicating that McAndrews has any recognized standing as an addictions expert.  Let's look at McAndrew's CV:
"Education:
1979 Ph.D., Human Sciences, Saybrook Institute, San Francisco, CA. Dissertation: Journeys: An Inquiry into Meaning
and Value.
1968 M.A., Social Anthropology, Manchester University (1977), Manchester, England. Thesis: The Yap Caste System
and the Yap Empire: An Analysis of Their Relationship
1967 Postgraduate studies in Social Anthropology, London School of Economics, London, England
1966 MPIA (Masters in Public and International Affairs), Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of
Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. Thesis: The Domestic and Foreign Contributions to the Overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah in
Ghana
1962 B.A., Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, State University of California at Northridge, CA

Professional Positions:

Now why would Ronnie embarass himself by trying to pass off this bullshit in the legislature?  He'll never tell.
