Prodigal Child Ministries was founded by John and Fair Brocard, who were apparently quite smitten by the behavior modification industry in light of their son Bubba's "transformation" at Aspen Achievement Academy. Their ministry is to "help" other parents who have similar nemeses residing within the family bosom.

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution article from September 2007 tells part of Bubba Brocard's story here.

LUC Ranch murders
« Reply #3 on: July 26, 2013, 12:27:00 PM »
Two boys ran away from one of the places mentioned earlier in the thread. They murdered two elderly disabled persons during their escape. Neighbors are surprised and afraid that the unregulated religious facility which takes on any problem a boy can suffer from to cure them with prayers and hard work pose a security risk in their local community.

Here are several other message boards where the LUC ranch murders are debated:

    *
Shane Hicks-my name.LUC BOYS RANCH- joke (Topix)
* No discussion on the Trace Hollow/Lampe murders ? (1 Branson message board)
* About these boarding schools (Minors in residential placement research center)
* Trace Hollow homicides ? (HWY-13)

A good case/argument where minors should be tried as adults.  Also a good example of schools not properly screening their applicants to see if they have the proper program, in place, to help them.

It is first and foremost a tragedy for the family left behind those two who were killed. I am not to judge whether the mental state of the minors who committed this crime would sent them into residential treatment instead of prison. I guess that the LUC ranch like you state had very little knowledge about what kind of issues these two boys should be treated for.

I have learned that they were sent down there from Detroit. While I am against the parent’s right to place their children in a residential setting without consent or screening from the authorities due to my support for the UN convention of the child, I hope that this tragedy is not the result of a social worker trying to find the cheapest option for a residential placement.

I have a lot of knowledge about residential placements due to my professional work. I also know how the DHS here in Denmark tries to cut corners when they try to find option for special need children. I guess that the DHS in a city like Detroit must face the question of balancing the budget and serve the interest of the children.

But as I stated above I hope that this wrongfully placement of those two boys in a setting clearly not suited to meet the need they have is the result of a ranch management who have successfully fooled the parents who must have been in a desperate situation. Otherwise it is a huge scandal where jobs should be on the line at the DHS.
