Is there a listing somewhere of all kids ever at Spring Creek Lodge?  Is there an alumni group for ALL WWASPS facilities?  How may I access such a list, as I would like to ask a broader spectrum of teenagers who experienced the Program how they now feel...not from parents posting on their childrens' behalf."

See, WWASP (and all similar Synanon based groups) sever communications with people "not in good standing" with the "group". Not only do they insist on broken ties among former and current members "in good standing", but they usually insist on wiping the very memory of the ejected or escaped members from the minds and mouths of current members.

Just because WWASP won't tell you the names of people who've been in their programs doesn't mean those people were not in those programs.

Straight and The Seed were exactly the same way.

What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult.

Would a psychiatrist or counselor release the names of their clients?  Would any "program" release a list of their students?  I'm sure there are those that do have a list, of course.  The person that posted that Melissa was not a student there could have that list, either current or former employee of Spring Creek?

As to the court suits filed.  It would list the parents - what is their last name if different from Melissa's?

I'm not convinced she is a real former student that got pulled and is now some sort of advocate.  Anyone can write they were part of such and such family, dates, and even information that would make it sound REAL.

What does a phone number and conversation prove?

Antigen - there are many former WWASPS students (one's that did not graduate) that are still welcome at the support group meetings and have been okay'd to post on their BBS.  The only thing they can't take advantage of is the warranty if their child did not graduate.

They are not allowed to post on the BBS if they are posting allegations that their child used to come home early.  Truth is one thing, fiction hurts.

Welcome to the board Melissa. I've been around here a while and my advice would be to ignore about 2/3 of the posters. Most of them are afraid of their own shadows.

Well whatever, I give up... I have a life and whatnot and I'm not going to argue with you. I'm going in to see the PR rep tomorrow, I simply suggested that because the guy was pretty helpful to me on the phone and he seemed genuinely concerned. So I guess I'll take my chances. But whatever...and yes, I'm on the class-action thing, I just joined the other day. But if you really want to, call Spring Creek up and pretend you're looking for my academic records... that's the proof, they'll send them right over to ya.

Melissa,
Did your attorney advise you on this decision? What did he think? I would hope that he is working for your best interest and would advise you accordingly.

I ditto Deborah. I am sure Mr. Wall is a nice, great guy, but remember he is being paid by WWASPS. Part of his stragedy is to see what victims are saying, so he can figure out how to discredit you and many others.  Sorry, but this is the way I see it. I don't mean harm by this just wanted you to think about it before you attend. As Deborah said, what does your lawyer say about it?

Melissa,

I believe you. I read your article in YM.I sent it to my cousin whose daughter had been escorted to SCL. YOU ARE helping other kids even when you are not aware of it.Thank You for having shared your story.

My son was a student at SCl.SCL staff lied to me repeatedy. I invested in their "progressive academics."  That has turned out to be a bad joke.

Melissa the Pr firm is being financed by WWASP. Big bucks. The money we parents spent /spend on our children's behalf,WWASP is spending on glossy lying brochures and PR firms. To continue the lie,fraud.....Beware of nice people who get paid by WWASP.  It is a hard lesson to learn....

Join the action. You WILL be helping the other kids still incarcerated in WWASP facilities.....

If YOU had such a bad experience with SCL, then what motivated your sister to send her kid to the same place?  This doesn't make any sense.

Another thing is you said you invested in their progressive academics?  The academics are there for the kids that choose to do the work.  Your son wasted your money.  The staff lied to you?  Is that in response to your son telling you the truth?  Being truthful is not a trait of a troubled teen.

Whoa... Is that Ken Kay speaking?:-)

You WWASPies are all the same. Because you are sooooo unskilled, you blame your inept, mistreatment of kids on the kids..How sick is that...

Reread sister, I never said I encourged anyone to send their kid to SCL. My gaol was for her take her OUT.......It's amazing what  truth can be found out AFTER you are allowed to speak with your child after many, many months.....SICK PROGRAM.

My son NEVER lied. HE told me they were ignorant hicks, uneducated, abusive.I didnt believe him. Thanks to our Family rep whom I DID believe....

It really doesn't make sense does it? I told a neighbor on many ocassions about the nightmare I was experiencing with the industry when my son was incarcerated, against my wishes.
I moved away. She sent her son to a wilderness program about a year later. He died there, from medical neglect.
She just couldn't hear. When parents are desperate to dump their problems, other's warnings are easily minimized.

And:
Being truthful is not a trait of a troubled teen.

Nor, is it a trait of a money-grubbing program with a conflict of interest.

"Parent, buy this progressive academics package. But remember, we will not encourage or support your son in his education....because we're too f-in busy punishing him for looking up or out the window, or speaking without permission. Control is very time consuming, and modifying behavior (abuse) is far more important than ensuring an education."

My son returned from a "college-prep TBS" in Ga five credits behind his peers. He was scoring As and Bs there. Wake up parents.  $5000/mo- that's a whole bunch of tutoring and mentoring. You could hire a college student to hang out with your teen every moment s/he wasn't in school. Hell, you could hire a therapist to do the same. Kinda like a nanny for your teen.

I never felt I was dumping my problems.
Seeking assistance in a crisis maybe.
I made a HUGE mistake.I trusted the untrustworthy in a time of need. I take responsibility for that.

Now that I know the truth. The truth my son was trying to get me to hear,I have another responsibiltiy. To try and  stop the fraud, abuse  perpetrated upon desperated parents and their "temporarily troubled teens."

FYI I bought the tutors, college students. My child is a smart kid. Stubborn too.

Too stubborn, not smart enough, to  "fake it to make" for the ignorant staff at SCL...

"I made a mistake, so now I need to blame somebody else to make myself feel better."

Ms. Victim's - WHERE ELSE DOES THIS SHOW UP IN YOUR LIFE?  Good guess that this isn't the only time.

Geeeez!  Who ya gonna call?
WWASPS-Busters??
