My guess is someplace with mountains and snow.  Best bet might be to find somebody who knows about vegetation.  It might be possible to determine altitude and so forth by the types of plants.

One of the comments on the photos suggests that this is a family lodge somewhere, to which the Sudweeks have been going to for some time.

Also, and this may or may not be related, there is an older gen Sudweek by the name of Dan, who may reside in the Bellingham, WA area.
