pseudo support sites
« on: October 15, 2008, 03:56:38 AM »
Hi,
I feel maimed by several pseudo support sites on the web and think there needs to be a bill of rights for all mental health support seekers.  I've some ideas about what should be included but want collaboration from people who've experienced it.

My negitive experiences in vr. were at an acoa (AA spin off missinformation parasite) site called miricales(sp) in progress, earth and pcychccentral.com.  Information and dissent prohibitions discriminated against me (an atheist and skeptic in need of science over magical thinking)  I was banned from all, for insisting on basic science and freedom of speach instead of cult like censorship of information, opinion, and freedom from religion.

Seems to me this a great site where people might understand...have one good friend here and ex straight, btw

ps- in transition (homeless now) so carry on this thread if seems interesting, I may find again and get back, maybe not :(

In lock up I had to attend AA, and compared to where I was it was heaven. But I can see how that sort of environment: the small group, the public confessions, the idea that you need to be delivered by a higher power, the "feedback" aspect, might twist into something darker.

There are AA type groups without a "sprirtual" requirement. I'll post links to them.

I'm sorry you were forced to attend, that's been found unconstitutional many times as 12-steppie groups are inherently a religion/cult dispite all the denial of it.  In my experience they are the worst on the web at suppressing opinions and people who oppose their brainwashing and pseudo science.  I haven't read your blog and have dial up so can't access the videos but was impressed to see peele there, have you read

the orange papers, http://www.orange-papers.org/menu1.html

http://www.positiveatheism.org/tocaprrwp.htm

The steppie cult aside, many 'support' sites practice much of the same coercive cult behavior,     http://www.sossobriety.org/cults.htm
mental health 'support' sites practice many of the cult procedures built into their guidelines/rules for posting that suppresses people who are jus trying to find help though telling their stories of being abused or neglected by all sorts of people and orgainizations, included mental health clinics and the the mental health system in general.  Often these sites ban people for posting something that is 'triggering' to other members, dissent is often prohibited and attempting to negate cult propaganda offen religious mumbojumbo missinformation, 'triggers' cult members.  Many people seem to think that 90% of the world's population is cult dominated, so 'triggering' one cult or another is vertually certain.  http://www.churchofreality.org/wisdom/cults/

My battle to halt cult behavior at a mental health psuedo support site and typical aa cult behavior can be seen here http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthre ... some+links  which was the sort of post I was reduced to there do to the sever censorship at that site, before they banned me entirely.  You could search for other posts I did there but keep in mind the one's where I was most critical of the site were deleted.

psychcentral.com discriminates, sucks it's own balls, bites, is intolerant, promotes quackery, is run by whacko authoritaria tyrrants,  isn't a mental health support site!  And needs to be exposed for the harm it causes.

~Down :soapbox:

doc John this is for you you quack promoting twit and all your intolerant culty minions and associates  :moon:
