Best Program Director/administrator/drone quote contest..

This is a thread started in the CAN forum about a contest for the best PV staffer quote. I think we can expand it to quite the thread for other programs as well. Try to be specific. The last submission was great, but I'm thinking we could be a little more precise. So please.. NO long walls of text.. Nice juicy sound bytes sort of deals.

TheWho makes this one way too easy for those with the patience to sift through 4K posts of Whospam.

"In my dealings with him, he has been very professional. . . . [He] has a great knowledge of young people in a wilderness setting and the types of protocols that need to be in place to make sure they are safe," said Mike Merchant, who runs an Arizona program and presides over the Wilderness Quest board.

He is talking about someone who takes thousands of dollars per month per kid from parents, to have them forcibly hiked around barren wilderness and treated like crap. We look in the history books and laugh at the stupid ideas people have taken seriously thorughout time, and this is going to be one of those things that people laugh at us about in their future history books. "They did WHAT to kids back then?! How primitive of them!"

Quote from: "primitives"
Quote
"In my dealings with him, he has been very professional. . . . "They did WHAT to kids back then?! How primitive of them!"

Some context may be in order, for someone to understand the irony at a later date...

The quote is from the Salt Lake Tribune, and the person being described is none other than Dr. Keith R. Hooker, recently indicted in connection with the grisly and lengthy death of Caleb Jensen. Link to post on fornits containing a copy of the article and discussion is HERE. Link to the original article in the Salt Lake Tribune is HERE.

Further irony re. Hooker's connection to Mike Merchant, whose quote is the above, comes a couple of sentences prior in the same article: "Hooker's indictment is a shock to many who have worked with him in Utah's wilderness-therapy industry. He helped found Loa's Aspen Achievement Academy and serves as medical director for Wilderness Quest in Monticello."

"Should you lack the necessary male equipment to complete the program, you'll be given the opportunity to grow some---under the watchful eye of an oldcomer"---Rev. Dr. Virgil Miller Newton, Straight, Inc., 1983

I heard him say this during an Executive Rap to a kid who'd been brought back after leaving from 1st phase.

Maybe Virgil wanted to make sure the guy had some junk for him to touch, and was too busy to check personally, so he made sure an oldcomer did it for him.

By Virgil's logic, I guess girls would never be capable of completing the program.  Poor things.......
