Treatment Abuse, Behavior Modification, Thought Reform > Peninsula Village
Fun time PV contest
ZenAgent:
O.K., here's a "focus" - the treatment team gives these to the kids each week, a thing to ponder. Here's some real Hocus Focus quackery B.S.:
"To be here or not to be here, that is no longer the question. The question is whether you will embrace the veracity of your confabulations"
-Jibby Redfield/Adam McLain, 2006.
Poets! My step daughter busted their stones over the ludicrous pseudo-philosophical stylings when she wrote her reaction to the "focus".
Anyone got other choice Hocus Foci?
Che Gookin:
Is confabulations even a real word?
Froderik:
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! This is a great idea for a thread!
But yes, apparently it is a word: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/confabulation
ZenAgent:
"Go in there and be his little girl again,"
A PV therapist's advice to a female patient before a forced face-to-face therapy session with her father, who abused her when she was a little girl.
Not funny at all, but indicative of the sensitivity and training of the clinicians at Peninsula Village. "Mending young lives and restoring families"? How, with this methodology? In this instance, PV failed, the session ended abruptly and the father and daughter have not communicated since the girl left PV. Damage done is clear, but PV has dodged accountability citing "clinical necessity" as a shield for ages.
ZenAgent:
Che, I realized I'm going outside your original guidelines - some of these blurbs won't have links, if they're from records. However, it does encourage me to go on a tour of the blogs of PV counselors who have no idea about the professional ethics of their trade.
