Tell those parents to "Just Say No" to programs.
Seriously. If addiction is hereditary then it's a family affair like Sly Stone told you. I read the pro-program noise on the other forums and it's amazing how parents describe their kids as hopeless teen addicts while the parents themselves are pious and admit to no substance issues. Don't throw your kid to the "tough love" goons because of the demon DNA you passed onto them. Even the most upright Norman Rockwell family can have fiending monkeys on their backs.
How many of you who went through programs have a parent or parents who are fucked up beyond belief but hiding behind a mask of sanity in the community? It's damn near impossible to get a rich drunk adult into a program against their will. The kids are a different story, they're victims of the chemical-addled whims of status conscious "parents".
