Kids Helping Kids- A Pathway Family Center was once again protested on Friday Sept. 26, 2008 by a mixture of child advocates ranging from age 12-40 something.
Twelve people attended Fridays Protest. There were four actual survivors of the "abusive treatment modality" on hand, as well as, two protesters from the Indianapolis branch of Pathway Family centers. One of the protesters from PFC INDY was a survivor and the other was an ex-program parent. They both held signs that stated which branch they are from and one spoke out by commenting to carpools of program parents and staff leaving the program, "Free the newcomers!".
Pathway Family Centers called the Miami township police again to no avail because all protesters were simply complying with the law, and were well within their rights to exercise freedom of speech. Protesters against the treatment modality of Pathway Family Centers are gaining momentum, and growing in numbers. Apparently, according to one protester, the child advocates have been contacted by numerous survivors recently. This only proves that at the very least something is amiss with Pathway Family Centers and the way in which they conduct their business in regards to children. It has also come to my attention that a new movement within the protests is building. Actual teenagers that have not been through anything like this, and that have never tried any drugs actually attended this protest and are committed to keep protesting Pathway Family Centers. Their ages range from 12-17, and they have stated that they are not going away from this issue any time soon, and are also committed to encouraging other teenagers to join them in the fight against abuse/torture of children, and children's rights in general. There were five teenagers that attended this protest and they will be back again and again.
The protest was a success as always, and there will be more in the future so stay tuned.
