Volunteer, I thought that is what I am doing. Of course most of the people on these boards did not volunteer, they were "drafted" in to this problem when their parents were swindled into blindly sending them into the hands of sadistic con artists and cult leaders.
The only bias we have here is that the safety and freedom of the kids comes first and the comfort and piece of mind of the parents a distant second.
Unfortunately this industry is almost completely unregulated, operates under the radar of the laws that do regulate it, staff often have no qualifications to work with kids, and it has a long history of child abuse.
These programs advertise to the parents as psychiatric services, tell the state they are private schools, tell the world they are non-profit, and tell the kids 'welcome to hell'.
