One can look at the law suit against HLA
and think it is just about settlement, but it is much more than that.
Even the most narcissicistic individual had to have a wake up call. No one person is an island. There were many 'calls'( avenues) that could have been taken, but Buccellatto made a grave error. The question looming was "why didn't he just give back the money?" The answer was he was use to saying "f**k em, and move on. Well, he said it to the wrong person and many more before and after them. Well, now, who got f**ked? Those can say the settlement is pittance and they would be right.
However, the Judge would not class the case and no negligence was brought forth in the Federal case. So there you have it. But, let us look at what it REALLY COST HIM? On the skinny from the Ed. Cons and like,
they figure upwards of 10 million...not to mention whatever reputation
he had. Regardless of the "bad" consultants and affiliates, there are those that will not touch Buccellato and HLA now. Those that knew the place was a rats nest and placed inappropriate children there for the almighty dollar are thinking twice, maybe even three times now, as they fear being named in another suit. And, yes, that can still happen. Just as the subpoenas flew before, they can fly again..
And, yes, there is the State....Well, guess what guys, we will be watching
you, too. So, you better be watching HLA and any other programs.
As Eliot Spitzer proved in NY, you are not an "island" either.
There were many lives that were broken over the years, but hopefully they are all on the road to healing. It will never be over for many, take comfort in knowing that you are not in this fight alone.
