Pulp Fiction - Marcelus and Butch Fighting - Pawn Shop Scene
« on: November 16, 2007, 08:46:56 PM »
I watched Pulp Fiction last night and I couldn't get over how this scene was so analogous to our RMA predicament.

This clip only has the intro. Go rent it and watch the whole scene through.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV4IBRic ... re=related

Opening scene: Marcellus and Butch fist Fighting on the street and by sheer bad luck end up in a Pawn shop while fighting/wrestling.

Upon a student's arrival to RMA he's clearly engaged in a intense 'fight' with issues in his life and parents (they lied or had you kidnapped to get up there). We as individuals were engaged in our own personal  'fight' that 'spilled' into a strange bizarre location (Bonners Ferry) that we were dumbfounded and uncertain of how we ended up there

Scene 2: Pawn Shop owner points a gun at both of them and tells them to stop fighting.

While being processed on day 1 RMA pointed their cult gun at us and said, "stop being you, Strip and agree to No drugs, no fighting, no sex".

Scene 3: Pawn shop owner ties them to chairs and calls Zed.

After being processed we were essentially mentally and physically tied to RMA's chair of cultish insanity. We sat there bound everyday awaiting the arrival of 'power staff'.

Scene 4: Zed and the gimp arrive.

This reminded me of the dread of being in a propheet with 'power staff' aka  Carmen/Stacy/Caroline etc. Espicially the begining of the propheet. The build up, the anticipation of something horrible.

Scene 5: Zed starts to rape marcellus and Butch escapes

We felt like we were being roughed up and abused every day (raped). The escape scenario we always hoped for but never got. This is what makes this disturbing part of the movie great - the escape/payback.

Scene 6: Butch escapes and once he's about to leave he decides to go back and kill Zed even though Zed is harming Butch's mortal enemy from 20 minutes ago.

Again, the escape payback scenario we always dreamed of. Also, the pity we felt for other students (who we may not have liked) as we watched them get demolished by Caroline.

Scene 7: Butch & Marcellus Kill Zed

The culmination of the payback scenario.
