powder is reality

Funny story to relate here: a friend of mine, who has worked in the wilderness therapy industry, began to date someone who had no experience in this industry. Her partner had Grateful Dead stickerson his truck, is a skier, works in a totally unrelated field, etc. etc. Oftentimes we get judged by our covers, no? Anyway, my friend had to take her partner's truck to work for a variety of reasons, and asked him if she could remove the Dead stickers so the students wouldn't see them, because that really is inappropriate and unprofessionalin this profession. He didn't understand why at all and thought today's teens really would have no idea what those stickers stand for, but, being the loving man he is (yes, my friend has a good 'un!), he allowed her to remove said offensive stickers.

So there my friend is in the field, riot-inciting stickers gone, and two students are near the truck. They peruse some of the other stickers and start to chuckle a bit. There was, unfortunately, one sticker there from a ski resort, which read, Powder Is Reality.

These two students were cocaine http://red-rock-writer.blogspot.com/200 ... ality.html[/url]

There's no place for pretensiousness in 'existentialism' or any meaningful form of therapy?

Thanks for posting this. I enjoy reading stories with no point at all.

yup, no point.

other than that the hippie skiier sold out, and the therapy woman is overly paranoid. so what if theres a dead sticker on the truck? the dead were not known for drug abuse. only drug use, and they/audience usually did acid/shrooms/weed not for superficial kicks, but because there all spiritually enlightening and mind expanding drugs.

100% of people working in the therapy/wilderness/psychology/psychiatry/addictions treatment industry dont know the first thing about drugs. the one person at my school who was supposed to know alot about drugs, didnt know that mushrooms were used by the aztec. he thought adderall and methamphetamine were two completely different drugs, and belived that marijuana makes you stupid and potentially psychotic - and thought they grew NY weed in the sewers. he claimed to be an ex hippie, although when he said that his drug of choice for 2 years was BANNANADINE....he lost all of his credibility among the kids. i think it would really help if people actually learned the truth about drugs, and taught the difference between use and abuse, superficial tripping and spiritually motivated tripping, and how personal responsibility figures into the picture. as proven by the condom industry......abstinence does NOT work.

nowandadys most drug abusers know about as much about their drugs as  a 7 year old mormon girl knows about sex. if that mormon girl tries to have sex, she'll mess up badly. she'll likely become a nymph, and runs the risk of getting pregnant/std's because she probably knows nothing about it. but maybe if you teach the mormon girl everything about sex - from syphillis to gonzo porn - maybe she'll respect it like every other adult does. likewise with drugs. if people knew the truth, and were not constantly conflicted between the DARE side and the Erowid side of the story, you get what you asked for - a generation of irresponsible addicts.

I do enjoy the occasional bump - who am I kidding - huge lines of cocaine every now and again. I was never in a program though or anything like that.
