A huge amount of worthless hacks from programs all over the country getting together with edcons.   Keynote speaker:  Henry Winkler.  The Fonz is a programee.

Two of my favorite PV clinicians will be there, speaking of things they know not:

Addiction to Self-Mutilation Among
Traumatized Adolescents
Adolescents who become addicted to
self-mutilation often have been exposed
to repetitive or overwhelming single
event trauma. This session will discuss
the bio-psycho-social aspects of self-
mutilation and present case studies
that reflect both the tendency of these
patients to relapse and their potential
to recover. Co-occurring treatment
modalities such as Cognitive Therapy,
Twelve Step Model, and Relapse
Prevention will be presented.
Presenters: Robert Pegler, Manager of
Community Relations, Peninsula Village
Adam McLain, Psy.D., Clinical Director,
Peninsula Village

And a workshop Peggy and Mac should be forced to attend. If the speaker uses too many polysyllabic words, though, these boys will start drooling and nod out.

He'll Pegler-ize you into believing anything.  He can take a non-addicted, intelligent kid and grind away with the AA hoodoo until the child sincerely believes he/she was a crack head straight out of the womb.  Once he gets that level of Orwellian control, Pegler knows he's got a real thoroughbred, ready for the PV track.  Maybe the kid will get to go on vacation with Pegler's family as a perk.

12-step model to help with cutters?

Right. Lets not treat the underlying psychological harm that came to the kid, lets punish the SYMPTOM that *WE* can't stand.

Most cutting is pretty much harmless, messy at most.... yet it MUST be treated and punished and turned into a case for confrontation and long term incarceration!

I remember truth searcher saying she eventually suggested for her kid tattooing or piercing.

 :roll: But that wouldn't treat the symptom the PARENTS have to face by the "abuse" child, right?

These are the very people that enable self mutilation,
with their humiliation therapy ect.
Why don't they try some kindness and humanity for starters.
I have never heard of a twelve step program for cutters!
I admit it can become quite an addiction.
I used to say "Weed or Bleed".
I have not cut myself in 4 years now.
