Sue Scheff/PURE recommended two programs to our family in 2004:
Whitmore Academy in Nephi, Utah--which was run by Mark and Cheryl Sudweeks.  We removed our daughter amid abuse allegations against the owners in November 2004, 7 weeks after our daughter was enrolled.
Cheryl Sudweeks's criminal trial ended in plea bargain.
Sue Scheff has written the Whitmore Blog which promotes the defunct Whitmore Academy; and which praises the Sudweeks; while bashing any parent who criticizes the Sudweeks; or this closed down facility.  Scheff's blogs does not disclose the Sudweeks's criminal problems in Canada ,or Mexico.

The other facility Sue Scheff/PURE recommended to our family in 2004 was Sunrise Academy in Hurricane, Utah and the Admissions Director was Boyd Hooper--who is listed as a Defendant in this case, along with Sue Scheff.  

Scheff highly recommended Hooper's facility, Sunrise Academy; but her recommendation of Whitmore Academy and her assuring words-- that she would place her own daughter at Whitmore Academy, if her daughter required placement in a program--helped to convince me that Whitmore Academy would be the best "school" for our daughter.

Seeing this lawsuit filed against Sue Scheff /PURE and Boyd Hooper causes me to wonder and ask:  What are the chances that that the  people we came into contact with when searching for "help" for our daughter would end up in some type of legal case in a Court of Law?  Cheryl Sudweeks in a Criminal case; and now Sue Scheff and Boyd Hooper having a law suit filed against them in connection to Focal Point Academy?

Was our family just this unlucky?
