Do any people out there still think that HLA will end up closing?

Check out what the email to us parents from HLA said. It was titled the Headmaster's update. It read:

With some apprehension equally mixed with excitement, students returned to class yesterday in their new classrooms, located in now what will be the new Academic building. The day went flawlessly...in fact the students were exceptional.

Our Summer semester has started without any problems. We currently have eight teachers. This gives us a staff to student ratio of 1:8. As our enrollment grows over the summer we will be adding additional teachers to maintain our 1:10 ratio.

As always, we appreciate your support and trust. Hidden Lake Academy will continue to move forward, providing the best care for our students.

So they only have 64 students (based on their numbers) at $6,00 per month means their revenue is only $384,000 per month. They claimed to have financial hardships when the enrollment was at 120 students - how can they make it now?

The gym is the "new" academic building. I guess that works since the rooms are so small, but then so are the classes

To be honest with you, I do not believe that they have 64 students right now at HLA. I think it is more like 50 some.

I think the way to look at it is this:

1.  If the suit gets classed, HLA will close due to bankruptcy.
2.  If the suit does not get classed, HLA may last a little longer while trying to fend off individual lawsuits (as many as 40).
3.  Above two points become moot if licensure is denied through ORS and HLA will close by force of law.

So, the only way for HLA to survive, in fact, is for the license to be granted and for the suits to be won (they won't be dismissed).  The odds are not very good for HLA's survival.
