« on: August 04, 2005, 10:28:00 PM »
I just found their website

http://www.horizon-academy.org/

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide young men and women the tools with which to build strong character and positive self-esteem, develop responsible decision-making skills, and improve family relationships.

Statement of Beliefs

Students can improve mentally, physically, socially, spiritually, and behaviorally in a team-based holistic program.
Students can change attitudes and behaviors in a positive structured environment.
Students can develop self-discipline and accountability by maintaining a rigorous daily schedule.
Students can rise to high standards and develop leadership and mentoring skills.
Students can use skills learned in seminars to enhance family relationships and build stronger societies.

Horizon Academy is located in the south eastern desert of Nevada, surrounded by beautiful mountains, sand dunes and expansive stretches of untouched arid land. Southern Nevada is rich in old west history, and the small town atmosphere surrounding Horizon Academy provides a friendly, family-oriented environment. The entrance to historic Death Valley lies miles to the west and the spectacular glitz of Las Vegas is just beyond majestic snow-capped Mount Charleston. The temperature provides year round outdoor opportunities and the vast desert floor invites exploration of its flora and fauna.

While students progress at their own pace, our excellent team provides constant guidance, supervision and encouragement. The very latest in computerized learning courses gives each student a custom education and a superior sense of achievement than the traditional classroom instruction can provide.

Horizon Academy provides a playful secluded location for students to attain academic excellence and personal integrity under highly structured, positive supervision and guidance.

Students can enjoy the quiet, tranquil desert as they learn life skills that will provide them with the knowledge, honor and personal integrity essential to a successful life.

Horizon Academy is easily accessible from all the western United States. It is an excellent choice for parents who desire the very best "home away from home" for their child to develop into respectful, honorable young adults.

They have a page for ZERO TOLERANCE (not up and running, yet, we must check back):

Each situation is different. Some students will come voluntiarily while others won't. We will help you determine what is best for your child.

And of course we cannot access the employee listing, you have to have a password for that.

And again, can't get the manual, gotta be registered.

WWASP written all over this one:
Jade Robinson owned Bell academy which was closed in 2003 by CA authorities. The owners had not obtained the license they needed to run the facility.

He also worked (I think the was a director) at Casa by the Sea in Mexico, which was closed by Mexican authorities for allegations of child abuse.

Like usual, they claim to be a boarding school when in reality they are a behavior modification program.

From the Seminars page; any doubt now?

Discovery
Focus
Keys to Success
Youth Camps
Parent Childs
Premier Educational Systems offers a three tiered, progressing seminar course; upon successful completion of each course, a more advanced course is available. These courses are designed to bring choices and joy to lives. The foundation of the three seminars are accountability, trust, empowerment, support and truth. These cornerstones are taught as the fundamental basics for creating effective and lasting change.

The goal of Discovery, the first level in the series, is just that; discovering and learning things about oneself that may have been forgotten. The second level in the series, Focus, is presented in a way to provoke thought and enhance the basics taught in Discovery while embracing and solidifying new concepts. The final course of the series is Keys to Success (formerly Visions), living the changes made and internalizing the fundamentals taught. During the parents and family members participation in these courses, students will be participating in similar seminars at their school or facility.

Paralleling the adult formats of Discovery and Focus, siblings and friends of the student in the school are invited to participate a combination of the two; the Youth Leadership Camp. These camps combine the lessons taught in Discovery and Focus with leadership building exercises designed to assist young adults in dealing with issues such as peer pressure, friends and drugs. Activities include camp fires, swimming, volley ball, basketball and highly effective low and high ropes course exercises.

Parents and students are invited to attend seminars which specifically address issues within the family unit; communication, clarity, and the family value frame. The Parent Child seminars, as with the adult seminars, consist of three seminars; Parent Child 1, 2 & 3. These seminars are an integral part of the family healing process and must be attended to attain graduate status.
