Raps...
« on: May 06, 2007, 11:31:49 PM »
What the hell does the word mean? The entire time I was in program no one could explain to me what it meant, and that annoyed me to no end.

Is it an acronym, abbreviation of something else?

Thoughts, anyone?

Dammit... I knew the answer to this question but I forgot...

Likewise, at Benchmark it was "groups" and "workshops"...  Much easier.  However, I interchange terminology when talking to ex-CEDU-ites...

Raps is the same term in both Straight Inc. and CEDU interestingly enough.  At Benchmark they used to call them "raps" but changed after nearby CEDU started to get a bad "rap"   8-)

Why does Carlbrook and Benchmark use much of the same terminology?
Straight and CEDU?

Answer:  It's a small world for program staff.

I'm making a guess, here.

My guess is that the reason Mel called CEDU groups "raps" was because "rap" was a common term in the 60s that meant "talk". "Hey, man, what's up? Let's rap."

Ok, kiddies, I'm really dating myself here. But Castle's right. Further, Rap is slang for rapport.

huh....

well I guess I know why no one in my dear old program could have told me that....

rapport is entirely too intellectual a word - you'd have to be way in your head to even think it

Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me.. Does everything in program have to do with hypnosis, cults, or flat out quackery.
