Well that report is about 99.% hogwash made up for the benefit of keeping it interesting for the reader. The Detroit Free Press is a tabloid for printing it. As a member of the electronic music scene I can dispute this article line by line if necesary. First thing if this kid was drinking and smoking dope at 10, his parents ought to be shot for whatever it is they were doing to him to cause that. Excstasy is the not the favored drug among Teens or any other age group. Marijuana is the favored illegal drug by a factor of 10 or more over all other drugs combined and alcohol over marijuana by a factor of at least 2 to 1, use your head people.

Most people don't use 5 pills in a night, think kids thats easily 100 bucks worth and one pill is usually plenty, with some people using 2 or 3 or 4 and occasionally five as it depends on the strength and purity of the pill.

People on excstasy are not having wild orgies (at least not at any of the clubs or raves I go to) that is just a drug war myth that was created as a scare tactic as was calling MDMA excstasy in the first place. The original street name was Empathy but that did not sell as well and did not conjure up images of dark corners filled with teenage nymphomaniacs which is and has been the most popular image to evoke when scaring people about drugs.

Disases are spread in schools more than anywhere else I would wager but they are not shutting down the public schools, a fabrication for the purpose of creating a useful little soundbite.

Uhm Viagra, ok whatever you say oh great drug enforcement people. This is just a fabrication, perhaps designed to make old people fear the theft of their lifesblood.

The PREDATORs?, ok once again, I think the rapists are a far bigger problem in schools and churches than at raves, but there is certainly no effort to shut them down. Although that is why legalizing these drugs will reduce harm because people will not be hanging out in dark warehouses to do them and creepy old men will not be trying to mess with young girls ( and guys) on excstasy, alcohol, cocaine, or whatever else they are doing. I have a lot more people tell me they were sexually assualted by cops than by fellow party goers.

No stats...then shut up and stop lying.

Never heard of the tootsie roll thing before, and an open bag of skittles is easy to spot.

I quoted this part because I wanted to point out this section as being word for word untrue.
"Medical studies show that ecstasy use kills brain cells immediately, causing memory loss and difficulty concentrating.  It depletes the body of serotonin, leading doctors to anticipate a surge in depression among this generation by 2010.  Body temperature rises -- 115 degrees is the highest temperature linked to ecstasy use.  When things go really wrong the drug can cause uncontrollable bleeding, the blood to congeal, cardiovascular collapse and even death"

Brain damage effects were studied and are still being studied, inconclusive data so far, memory and concentration losses are just speculation.  That thing about a surge in depression is absolute hog wash, no part of  the medical establishment has ever made that claim and seretonin is replenished.

There have probably been less than 100 deaths from MDMA ever, nearly all deaths linked to MDMA are actually other drugs sold as MDMA or when MDMA was mixed with other drugs by the user.

Pathway, you obviously don't have much experience listening to teenagers cause you only repeated the same myths that are so blatantly untrue.

I haven't been to a rave in years, but I have friends who still go. When I was going they were all love and fun, probably the safest place to go and dance. But even though they exagerated on that article, some of it is true. In BC exstacy isn't the most popular drug, but among teens it is. It's now the first drug that they try over pot, which says a lot considering that BC is sort of pothead/headquarters.

There are predators at raves, just like anywhere else. Sinse they went mainstreem obviously more and more are going there, also since they went mainstreem lest "oldskoolers" hang out and instead it's the club scene for kids. I know girls who were raped after being slipped GHB at raves.

In some cities they'll serve alcohol at raves, which kind of depletes the purpose! Those "raves" end up with fights just like a regular bar.

Just another newspaper over reacting and jumping to conclusions. I agree that there are more diseases and rapes in school. The reporter or police officer interviewef had an active imagination about those sex orgies - makes you wonder if he'll do "research" now.
