no i kinda like it and figured id do nothing to improve it. i kinda like things nice and slow, what's rush? lol

keep in mind we took a site optimized to run on a unix/mysql environment and moved to windows/sql server. There is no way I'll be able to speed it up and tweak it so it runs quickly without a little bit of testing. And of course I can only test by having you all use the forum for real so we can see the load etc.  so no the plan is not for it to be permenant, figured that was a given.  I'll be making a few updates tonight that should help and runing a trace on the database to find out whats the major culprit. This is a HUGE db yet i have dbs 5 times the size that are never slow.  It hasn't been indexed or optimized ever as far as I know so these probems should diminish in the next day or so.  Thanks for your patience. now could ya pass the bowl?

No offense, still relatively (compared to how it was before the move) slow.

Just about anything (even yahoo) loads faster. I removed my router to see if that was it... Nope.

That's odd because it's really snappy from where I am.

ive been watchin it there are times during the day where it will slow down. its really a matter of tweaking the memory settings on mysql til i get it worked out.  problem is i have to do that when it's pretty active and the last few days i have had to work.  I have it logging all the slow queries too so i hopefully i should be able to narrow it down...

frod when it is slow is it a time when the board is more active? just curious.

Fwiw it's slow RIGHT NOW at 7PM EST.

By 'slow' I mean it takes like 5-6 secs. for a page to fully load or refresh.... hope this helps.

Cool. It just took 7 seconds for this reply box to appear. Dial up was faster than DSL is now. Could it be the difference in amountr of hops b/n the server and your box and the server and my box. Come to think of it, if you put the frorum on your server, isn't it sitting like right next to you?

LOL no my server is not in my house. It's colocated at an ISP that has MEGA bandwidth.  I can't very host LEGO from home now can i? Especially not living in a building that's 100 years old hehehe... My server is livin it up in Arizona. lol ...  But the slowness isn't a bandwidth issue.  MySQL is just a bit picky on windows and it's a matter of allocating the right amount of memory.  It's not burning up my Processor so I think it's just a memory issue.  Although it does seem to be "unusually" slow for you.   7 seconds for a reply button i have not experienced in at least a week. lol  try a trace rt? nice and speedy all the way?

How should I know? I have no pretenses of knowing what sort of technology is (or is not) available to you or where the server resides.

There were 23 hops; a few were as high as 87 ms. I wonder if anyone else on the left coast is getting the same slowness on this site.
