Why have you not ratisfied this convention?
« on: March 12, 2007, 10:45:42 AM »
Only two nations worldwide: US and Somaila have not ratisfied this convention:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention ... _the_Child

Convention on the Rights of the Child
Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by
General Assembly resolution 44/25
of 20 November 1989
entry into force 2 September 1990, in accordance with article 49

Full text is here:

Perhaps the reason is article 13. No more letter monitoring unless it is for protecting the national security. How many childrens in various programs does that?

So go to your congressman and get him to work for the US to sign it. It is urgent.

I'm more interested in abolishing the UN. It is a noble idea, but the time has long since passed for the metaphorical bullet to be fired into the metaphorical horse's head in this situation.

Hi Ho Hi Ho.. The UN has to go!

Main reason:  Death penalty for minors

Other reasons:

- hatred of the UN (fear of a one world government (apocalyptic implications))
- fewer "rights" for parents

The US is never going to sign that document...  Maybe in 50-60 years.  Maybe.

Will the UN send in troops to secure the freedom of the children? If not, what is the point of signing a document with no way to enforce it?

this treaty is like the constitution or the Geneva covention. its not necessarily followed, but you need it before it can be enforced.

People are agasint the UN mostly becasue of propaganda  Media outlests rail against it becasue sometimes it attempts to limit miliatary industrial aspirations .These same industries and their freinds own  those media outlets and if they create a climate through propaganda where politicians can get away with ignoring the UN  they  make more cash

You have the same sentiment surrounding the UN as you do with the Iraq war.-prpoganda induced idocy

The US doesnt want to ratify the convention largely becasue it outlaws child labor and other forms of child abuse that can be financailly lucrtive for corporate america. Its all about $ as usual- and the saps that can be manipulated into thinking what $'d interests want them to

Who's in charge here, us or them?

That's the problem as far as I'm concerned. As it stands now, we've lost the republic for all intents and purposes. So what then, give up and give over more sovereignty to this foreign power? Or beat our own out of control government back into submission to the will of the people?

Honestly, I think they've made such a mess of things they will sign the damned thing. Maybe that will be the trigger, the final straw that wakes enough people up to the fact that we've lost the republic and it's time to start over and states and regions will start to secede. Hm, the Apalachian republic and here I am right on the border at a good trading spot.... Maybe, probably not.

the greatest illusion in history... the republic is only visible to those getting rich and powerful off it.
