How to salvage a good stone pipe
Anonymous:
I have this pipe that I really like. It's one solid piece of some low grade soft stone. It bears all kinds of marks and chips and scratches and some intentional scribling. But I can't use it, it's clogged solidly with a now compressed chunk of q-tip stick (the paper part) I've soaked it in alcohol, boiled it in water and scratched away at the obstruction with various bits of wire and things. That last quarter inch or so of paper just won't budge. What do I do?

Maybe let it dry for a while and try to burn it out..or build yourself a bong:

Hm, purified with fire. Maybe that's not such a bad idea. But I don't want to part with this pice of stone. It means something to me.

ok, it's in the oven drying out. I'm worried. It'll getting a little warm. It'll have to get really, really hot before it burns. What if it cracks before the clog ever burns out?

You'd have to crank the oven to 500 to do that.
500° to real stone should not hurt it, granted it is an even heating up. But, again... I dunno what kind of stone it is or how it was made.
I do think if you dry it out and try to burn it out there will not be enough heat from the q-tip to harm the stone, just perhaps cover it in soot.
