Ever considered that the kid did it with the intention of going to jail instead of staying at HLA?
Damn, is he going to be pissed when he hears about the shutdown (when it happens).

Dr. Martha Kolbe needs to wake up and smell the coffee and retire. I cannot believe that she is still referring kids to HLA based on what she now knows.

I agree that HLA's legacy is devastated families. :(

I think it is interesting how opinions on HLA can be so varied. I would love to see an independent study done on the satisfaction of HLA families. It would really be interesting to have someone that could be completely objective do such a study.
To this day I hear from families on both sides of the issue. Some saying that HLA was a devastating experience and others saying that it saved their family. Different families going through the same program getting very different results. What is the factor that determines satisfaction?

This is a marketing question.
The question everyone should be asking is "How has it been clinically validated that HLA's program has ever helped anyone?"
See, when you're dealing with snake oil - a product that doesn't work, like HLA's "program" - the results are always the perceptions of the consumers, as the product itself yields no measurable benefits.
Of course, managing perceptions is the only focus of the Teen Hurt business - a marketing focus. It's never been about clinical results and it never will be...
