I've worked with the homeless population and have had some of them admitted to this county hospital (now called Bergen Regional Medical Center).  Sometimes they are admitted to the long-term mental health units and I've seen the cell-like conditions, lack of activities, mix of really sick patients in with not-so-sick ones.  Does anyone have direct experience with Bergen Pines?   They had some problems years ago and they privatized parts of the hospital.  People were escaping and committing suicide a lot.
