I can't get my sound to work. I really, really need some good sounds, too.  ::mecry::

Do you think it's the card? Or do you have one of those motherboards like mine which have integrated sound?

Well, it's an onboard soundcard, Intel AC'97

Any application I use gives the same results; sound or video will play for awhile then stall out for anywhere up to about 20 min or so. Might play for 2 min, maybe as long as 7 or 8 but no more than that. I can't even find anybody who's had these problems.

I've just been beating my head against this issue till that spot is numb them going back to the Brother printer issue till I'm burnt on that. Had the printer to the point where it thought it was receiving data, then kept messing around till now that doesn't work either. I think I just used a driver made for  different hardware version, hoping, cause the one named specifically for this hardware didn't even get that far.

What I need is a hard core unix geek who doesn't have to spend half an hour trying to find the command to list devices or processes using said device and such and who I can trust enough to log onto my machine from wherever.

Is there enough RAM? The fact that it works and then doesn't after x amnt of minutes makes me think it may be a memory issue..

Not sure how much memory I have or how to find out. But nothing else slows down when the sound and video freeze.

How do you check for an IRQ conflict under Linux?
