Democrats control House -- program regulation on agenda??

Now that the democrats have taken control of the house, and have control of oversight committees and what bills get voted on, do you think this will make a difference in them passing effective program regulation?

Do you believe this is a partisan issue and will get better now that John Conyers has a more powerful position?

I hope so.

This would be a great issue to butcher the Republicans on. The Democrats have two years to start looking like the saviors of America. Pointing out times and places where Republicans have profited from child torture will be a great bludgeon, particularly after the Mark Foley business. And of course it would behoove the Republicans to do the same.

That's the ideal: D's and R's blaming each other for the existence of these hellholes.

Contact your senator and representative today. No matter which he is, make it sound like the fault of the other party.

Anyone have any convenient documentation? We need two info packets, one to send to the Democrats and the other for the Republicans. Feeding these info packets to blogs and similar would also work.

I'm very serious. Anyone have a whole lot of info for the political connections? I could do this myself but I'm not the info whore a lot of people here are.

The dems most likely are going to launch a massive anti-Iraq war agenda. Not that its a bad idea, but they will no doubt be gulled into the fallacious thinking that going for an impeachment of the president is an appropriate method of luring the undecided segment of the American voting public. Sadly this lack of concern for public welfare will be another nail in the coffin of the Democratic Party with their total abandonment of the American population.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about much of anything coming out of this congress. They are to busy sharpening their knives to go after Bush. Sad... it means if they succeed then Cheny becomes president.

Now that terrifies me.

Why does it terrigy you that Chaney would become president if Bush were impeached? Chaney is already the guy with his hand way up Bush's ass, making his arms wave and his lips move!

Pelosi already said that impeaching Bush is off the table. Dems are stupid but they aren't that stupid, they have their eye's on the real prize of 2008.

You need to write to congressman Miller of CA.  He sponsored a bill called the "End Institutionalized Child Abuse Act" and it was promptly shelved in a Repub cmte as soon as they saw the word "regulate."  This bill can now get proper review and an up or down vote.
