When parents endure worse than their child (SPOILER: BC4)
« on: November 07, 2006, 03:32:01 AM »
According to reviews from (Brat Camp 4 - Family brat camp) one of the moms could not take the discomfort of Idahos desert anymore and pulled her family out of the program.

Her son which were buttered by som slight anger issues, seemed to come along quite fine, but she could not take it anymore.

What does it tell us?

According to my opinion it serves as an example of how we priorities. Some of us would go further in order to ensure the best possibilities for our children. I would through fire so save mine.

But some will go on living as they use too and outsource problems and hard work like cleaning the house often is outsourced.

It is sad - just sad.

I would invate parents to tag along your child in the future, when you send him or her to a program.

- Please wear the orange jumpsuit with your child
- Please lie down at the side of your child in OP
- Please sit all day in a stonecircle without shoes.
- Please lie hogtied along your child in High Impact
- Please occupy the dog cage next to your child in High Impact
- Please take a seat next to your child in handcuffs when the teen escorts comes for your child.

Only then when you are visible showing your child what you are prepared to go through, the love of your child is guaranteed.

She had to sit in a stone circle "without shoes". You say I should have done so too.Why?. I didn;t mess us as a teen. I didn't get hooked on drugs. I didn't get kicked out of school. Having said that, I could easily spend 3 days in a stone circle looking at the beautiful scenery in Utah.
What you havent understood is that many of these kids, mine included, spent their days/nights in far worse conditions. The gutter and alone in the local park spring to mind in my case. More to the point, my teen went away in a terrible mess, but came home happy and with a future, What more can I say?

I dont really understand that post's point.

You don't just 'look at pretty scenery in a stone circle' all naturey lovey dovey mystical indian nonsense, you're pushed to the limit physically and mentally with them picking at you... picking you apart and working you to exhaustion and forcing you to do as told and they dole out food and shelter.

How ignorant is that mom?

Also, just as an aside... why should you go "suffer with your kid" to show them you love them? SUFFERING IS NOT THERAPY!

Argh.

Why the parents should tag along

The children in these programs have not rights and the (few) parents who actually cares about their children but have ordered such a tragedy, have no idea of the abuse in these programs.

And if the parent are present, he has legal right to stop and leave at once, when it inevitable turns from therapy into abuse.

That is what makes "Brat camp" season 4 acceptable. If the parents witness abuse, he also is legal bound to stop it or he himself would be target for a suit of child abuse.

And almost every parent would stop any act of abuse against his own child when he sees it. Also he would not accept it on himself unless he is some kind of masochist.

There was actually two good things in this serie.

1) Ben's mom pulled her family.

2) Amanda's parents pulled her, when she reported abuse (She entered a new program alone after the first one). They have been there themselves. They have looked the instructors in their eyes and knew what kind of molestion such people will be be prepared to do. So they believed their daughter even though the claim was fabricated.

I have never heard of a such act of charity when they pulled their daughter.

I have this adwise to parents: Rather pull your children 20 times as result of a lie than not pulling your child and getting a corpse or a zombie returned.

Too bad they can't realize this is meaningless shit that just makes them suffer until they break down and dole back out survival and comfort as the 'carrot' on the other side of the BM "stick".

Oh well, it'll be another 20 years before this shit finally finishes dying with a whimper.  Ugh.

I'll be 42 by then... scary!

As i have said previously there was only one season of Brat Camp here so i have not seen this but i find this a bit heartening. Perhaps parents going home and pulling kids on camera will higlight the fact that there programmes are not all beer and skittles and that tough love is not the way to go.
