Iraq War; Fox News Lies ?
« on: March 12, 2003, 03:06:00 AM »
The others in my house stop at the warmonger channel often, Fox News.  Fox News seems to be ramming this idea down our throats that "the majority is all for invading Iraq".  I don't believe that because no one I know in my real life approves of it.  If I cannot find even a 5% approval for this war among people I know, where do they get this 75% to 85% approval?  Are they only polling the oil lobbyists, foreign awareness lobbyists and the Freemasons?  It looks like "before we let you vote, we need to make sure you agree with us".  As soon as they get one vote against it, the poll closes and that's the 15% who is against it.  Or maybe they're just making it up.  I don't see why they'd even bother with polls.  They don't believe in voting or anything democratic.

Seems like the only poor or oppressed people Fox News gives a shit about is the poor & oppressed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The poor & oppressed in the U.S. and everywhere else can just burn in hell.

It's not just Fox News, I think this is being done by any of the conservative or republican brainwash media.

Anyway, this isn't to debate whether you're for or against the war.  It's to ask if you think Fox News is lying to us about this "majority".  What are the majority of people in your life saying about the Iraq war?

THey have a funny story of bush offering another 300 dollar tax rebate in exchange for supporting the war. He makes mention of how his i-pod only costs 299.

Come to think of it, Bush actually should do that, because if we all have new ipods then we are gonna be too busy playing with them in our ipod lovefest than caring about some silly war.

On February 14, a Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization. The court reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox Television management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information. The ruling basically declares it is technically not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast.

Yes, Ruppert's propaganda organ lies. I think Sysadmin is digging up some recent headlines on that for you right now.

As for the polls, well they only poll their own viewers. Of course the majority of those people are all for the war. Just don't try and confuse them with facts or anything.

A student burst into his office.  "Professor Stigler, I don't believe I deserve this F you've given me."  To which Stigler replied, "I agree, but unfortunately it is the lowest grade the University will allow me to award."

I've seen a couple of Hannity & Colmes shows.  Colmes, the one who is supposed to be a liberal or democrat is either a phoney or Fox intentionally selected him due to having a personality that Hannity can easily walk all over.

Two people in my family have said at separate times, without hearing it from each other first, that Colmes is a wimpy example of a liberal.

The fact is, they could have selected some real fireball, relentless Liberal.  That's why I say one of the two possibilities of my observation must be true.

I'm no democrat or republican, but I know enough about both sides to see that this is staged.

When they use their slogan "fair and balanced", that is a scam.  The scam lies in the way they portray balanced as only having two sides.  There are a hell of a lot more than two sides to everything they broadcast.  Then they twist the broadcast into the favor of the Republicans.

Back to the Fox News warmonger polls, I've been switching to CNN often, and wow, they're painting a completely different picture of America.  CNN says stuff all the time about how Bush has failed to sell the war to the American people.  They're probably liars too though... Democratic Party liars.

Fox News just showed one of their closed polls on TV.  It turns out that this poll with the 71% approval for this war was conducted at http://www.foxnews.com/polls .  I did not know about this poll.  Only their viewers who watch the channel often knew about it.  Most of their constant viewers would approve of the war.  So, 29% against it, who are Fox News viewers, seems to indicate a very strong public resistance to the war overall when you take that into account and add the rest of the non-Fox News world on top of it.

Maybe we should all be checking these polls and voting in them even if we don't watch Fox News for more than 5 mins a day.  I know I'll be doing it.

Well, here's a good place to find Faux viewers:
http://discuss.pittsburghlive.com/index.php

There are war and politics discussions going on in News Of The Day, Random Madness, The Terrorism War and probably some other forums. Note especially JamesZappa. There has been some speculation that he might be a relative of Stephen A. Zappala, our DA. I haven't been able to confirm any relation between Stephen and, Straight cofounder, Joseph Zappala. But here's some data gathered by Wes showing close business ties between Zappala and Roy Spear, owner of Home Shopping Network and another Straight board member. That's the same Spears family for which a township or two and a chain of gas/convenience stores in this area are names.

A local warned me not to piss him off with public questions like that as they're among the most powerful families in this area. But I'm just incorrigible.
