According to RCS's handbook "searches" are conducted on students when they arrive on campus or breaks/trips. Directly from the handbook:"These searches are conducted by two same sex staff, and at no time is their (should be "there" but the English teacher is too busy writing fake testimonials to proofread this section) any physical contact."
 
Parents - how can you conduct a "search" without physically touching the child? That's because these are the same "strip searches" they performed on kids at HLA. They are not legal. They force your child to drop their pants and spread their legs to show they don't have anything hidden. Furthermore, full background investigations are not performed on staff (this is directly from the ORCC's records) so how can you be certain the person "searching" your child doesn't have a criminal record?
 
Parents were you informed of the strip searches or did you find out about them after your child told you?


Students Returning to Campus after breaks/visits

No luggage, clothing, or other belongings, personal music players and headsets will be brought home or back to campus on breaks and visits.  Students will leave and return in their RCS uniform.  Students will not be allowed to take anything off campus with them for a visit or bring anything back from a visit without prior approval from a School Communicator, except a book to read on the plane.  

For the safety of all students enrolled at Ridge Creek School, all students are personally searched on the day of their arrival and after returns from off-campus trips, visits, seasonal breaks when the student leaves staff eyesight. This search is conducted in a dignified, modest and professional manner.  These searches are conducted by two same sex staff, and at no time is their any physical contact. Searches are completed to ensure that no student brings any contraband or weapons into the program which would compromise student safety.

Many programs do strip searches to keep other children safe.  For example, a child could smuggle in a weapon to harm staff or another child.  Preventing children from carrying weapons is a positive, not a negative.

I don't think children are "touched" at Ridge Creek school during strip searches.  Strip searches are done correctly to ensure the child's safety at Ridge Creek School.

The poster "program" is actually, IMHO, Joel, aka The gatekeeper.  Luckily, Whooter quoted most of Joel's posts before he erased them all when he became a moderator, so we can still see the evidence.  Joel is fairly low-functioning academically, so his posts are pretty easy to identify.

Addiction Services

Ridge Creek School addresses issues concerning substance use by providing education, treatment, and prevention techniques. The Addiction counselors address the use of alcohol and drugs of abuse, including nicotine. Soon after enrollment at RCS, all students are evaluated for addiction issues using the reported history of the student’s behavior, and through standardized testing with the SASSI –A2 (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory-Adolescent 2nd Edition) and EDI-3 (Eating Disorder Inventory 3rd Edition).

ATOD (Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs) Psycho-educational classes concerning the risks of drug use, basic information about addiction and recovery, and the effect of addictions on families. All students participate in this program.

EASA (Encounters with Addiction and Substance Abuse) weekly sessions are designed to prepare students with substance use problems for the recovery programs. Students with substance dependence issues continue in EASA until they are prepared to began work on their recovery.

Addiction Realizations — Periodic group sessions to help students with distorted thinking and emotional blocks to recovery from substance dependency, disordered eating and self injury.

Solutions Group —Students attend AA and NA meetings both on and off campus which include guest speakers. The Solutions Group is for students who have graduated EASA and are actively pursuing a recovery program.

SIG (Self-Injury Group) is a weekly counselor led group designed to help students with this issue.

Random and routine drug testing

EDG (Eating Disorder Group) is a staff led group designed to help students with this issue.

Conjoint Group is a support group for students with atypical addictions such as computer addictions, pornography addictions, compulsive lying, and other issues that are not covered through the above-listed groups. These students gain an understanding of how the underlying cause of their addiction is similar even though the behaviors are not.
