what are Edcons?

What encompasses the job description of an Educational Consultant?

The definition for:

Educational  -  Of education: educational standards; an educational system

Consultant -  Someone who gives expert or professional advice.

How could Jean Hague recommend HLA when the teachers are not certified or qualified?

Ms Hague, have you ever considered how the monthly tuition of $5,700 is allocated.  You do realize HLA is probably one of the most expensive boarding schools in the country and is without qualified teachers.

Ms. Hague, as a professional, what should be a parents expectation of a therapeutic boarding school that charges a monthly tuition of $5,700?  You recommend struggling teens to HLA with full knowledge of the lack of qualified counselors on staff.

Ms. Hague being in question of HLA operations is a black and white issue, and, for most, very easy to understand.  This is very basic reasoning and if you don?t get it, maybe you should consider a new profession.

Perhaps Jean Hague should be named a co-defendant on the class action lawsuit.

Honestly, I would like to understand how one prepares and becomes an Educational Consultant??? How many years in
the Education field do you need to become an Ed. Consultant?
If an Educational Consultant is one that is defined as an expert in the filed of Education...What degrees must you hold, especially to recommend a chid to a "Therapeutic Boarding School"?? Are Ed.
Consultants accountable to any regulatory agencies, ethics boards..?? Do they 'own' their mistakes? Do they 'police' their own,
as with NATSAP?

Probably varies state-to-state.
In Texas they aren't required to be licensed unless they make out-of-state placements.
Elizabeth Hall wasn't licensed. Guess how she got off?
She didn't "deliver" my son to Georgia.

She never saw my son. Knew nothing about him. Referred based on the "owner's reputation".

Easy Money. For collecting brochures and playing einey, meiney, miney, moe.

As far as kick-backs. Greg Lindsey told parents that HLA couldn't compensate Ed Cons, but that they would reimburse any parent who used one $250, that they could do with as they chose. His tone of course, said it all. I thought, what the hell, she didn't do anything to earn her fee, why give her a bonus?

Uh, this really is a renegade, maverick industry. They are accustomed to doing business their way. Rules don't apply to them, only others.

Aspen Education Group pledges $100,000 to IECA Foundation
(From left to right) Len Buccellato, Allen Cardoza, Elliot Sainer, Jared Balmer, Brooke Dudley, Lynn Luckenbach, and Ed Kowalchick celebrate the generous contributions given during the start of the 2004 Annual Giving Campaign.

The IECA Foundation is pleased to announce that Aspen Education Group has pledged to contribute $100,000 over the next four years. The contribution has been earmarked specifically for consultant and counselor training as they work with youth in the midst of making educational decisions. The formal announcement was made to the IECA membership and school, college, and program representatives at a luncheon held during IECA's Fall Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 7.

According to the Foundation's Treasurer, Jason Katz, "This contribution will be extremely helpful in allowing the Foundation to continue its work of giving grants to those worthy students who need additional resources and guidance. A big thanks to Aspen!"

The IECA Foundation will sponsor a workshop on learning disabilities with Dr. Mel Levine in Boston on Wednesday, April 28, 2004. A portion of the Aspen gift will be used to fund this workshop.

This industry needs to be exposed in the media.  I hope the Atlanta papers include Ed Cons when they cover HLA.  Does anyone the phone number?
