so like any good program they will admit any normal teenager. low frustration tolerance? low self esteem? are these now conditions that i am unaware of, because i have yet to meet this theoretical teen who does not suffer from these things.
adoption and abandomnet isuess... best dealt with, sending the kid away! how perfectly ironic. family issues.. being dealt with by, removing child from family... great solution.
if you haven't read the site yet, check out the philosophy page and read about 'experiential therapy' and have a good laugh. :P
i couldnt find any direct link to wwasp as far as marketing or anything, but if the owner is related to jay kay, it definitely smells fishy! they know wwasps is becoming a liability brand name so they are probably going to start to ditch it soon, or by changing structure and names and expand that way. thats what i would do if i were them.

--- Quote from: ""Nihilanthic"" ---Again...
would someone please explain how a grown adult, not under duress, could get twisted into trusting in and believing in these places?
--- End quote ---
Actually, I think it's a simple question, and I think the answer is simple -- abuse by proxy. They can't get away with locking the kid in the basement and forcing him into submission, so they pay someone else to do it. All the other bullshit is just conscience-soothing self-justification. How many times have you heard about an abusive spouse or parent saying something like "I only hit you because I care about you.", or "This is for your own good."?
"He's out of control." Yeah, it's all about control. As far as good intentions... well, you know where those get you.
And to all the parents that have come to their senses, and are now outspokenly opposed to these places: I have forgiven my mother, because she knows she was wrong. She's even admitted that her conscience was eating away at her the whole time, even though she says she wasn't aware of what was going on in those places, and that she was conned.

--- Quote from: ""mikey"" ---If this is JulieE from ST, who posted in the ST Program Questions Forum, I am glad that you have decided to post this question on Fornits as well.
--- End quote ---
No, it wasn't Julie who posted this. I am another parent who frequents this forum, ST and other forums related to this hideous industry. I only did a little digging on DR because it sounded like it might be related to DA, and I wanted to warn Julie to stay away from any place that has any sort of affiliation with WWASPS or any of it's known personnel. In fact, there a lots of non-WWASPS programs I would like her and other parents to avoid too.
Having said that, I am not against parents finding help for kids who really need help. I hold on to the optimistic belief that there are some mental health care professionals in this country that actually care about children, that are qualified and licensed and want to help kids improve their lives and resolve their issues in a loving, caring and therapeutically accepted manner. That certainly rules out all the unlicensed programs, and probably most of the licensed ones too.
The reason for posting the question about DR here was that I thought there might be some alumni (although it's only been open a year) or some other info that could expose this place. Like I said, I couldn't find it on any watchlists -- and that's scary.
White Cracker Man:
Good to hear that you are looking out for julie and her child. Caring medical profesionalS? ABSOLUTELY THERE ARE! The kind who oppose these types of programs. The type who do everything in their power and then some to keep the child at home. Not the type who refer to programs and/or throw meds at every single problem. Upset that your uncle threw your mother down a flight of stairs and are acting out because of frustration? Here is some Haldol. Depressed because of disfunctional family? Here is some Zoloft.Having arguements with your mom and having school problems?Well, We will send you to some program instead of dealing with it. Much easier that way.

I'm just laughing at how threy don't treat "serious gang involvement".
Wanna know why they don't?
Because any kid who's been through gang initiations and the like is gonna think "Hey... I've BEEN HERE before!"
He will then proceed through the program at a rapid pace, further perfecting the arts of bullying and threatening, before he returns home a true expert.
Seriously, if your kid isn't doing well in his gang, not participating in illegal activities, not being hateful or brutal enough, etc, a Program will surely help him out.
