HLA sum-up thread
Anonymous:
I keep seeing all these various topics and threads of HLA but I'm not sure of the big picture and I think we'd all like to know.
DJ or someone else in the know, what all, exactly, is happening to HLA, and about how long before the whole thing just crumbles?
It feels like massive ownaj but I can't tell for sure...

My son has been at HLA for 7 months. He is very happy and likes his classes. He is on a sports team and in other activities. He has lost one academic teacher, but otherwise he hasn't mentioned anyone leaving which impacted him. He gripes about some things, but is doing fine and does not complain about being there or ask to leave. I saw him very recently and I asked him about the things that have been reported on this forum. He said there is absolutely no abuse of any kind and he thinks the school is just fine. I have contacted other parents and they have the same reports from their kids. I am not sure where the information on this site is coming from, but it is not correct.

Well, Child Protective Services says you don't know what you're talking about. HLA just fired 5 employees for ABUSING KIDS after a pop inspection from CPS at their Ridge Creek facility.
Did you know that you son will be severly punished if he complains to you? That your phonecalls are monitored by staff? That your letters are censored?
Have you read emails posted on this site from high-up HLA management delineating abuses that they witnessed? Are we supposed to listen to second and third-hand information from a program parent over direct, first-hand experiences of staff and kids? CPS? I don't think so.
You've got your head stuck in the sand...
ALL of the truth is about to come out VERY SOON in a VERY PUBLIC way. Maybe then you'll get a grip on reality. That place will likely be closed before your kid "graduates."

Ah, I was once this naive, but then my son was attacked by another student, had kids in his room doing drugs, etc...
The information on this site is coming from current students, former students, current parents, former parents, former employees, and current employees. The information is very real.
Have you talked to your son about the strip searches?
How about calling the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and finding out how many of his teachers are certified? 800-869-7775 or 404-232-2500.
Or go on the GA Secretary of State's web site to find out about those "licensed" counselors? https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/myverification/
Maybe it was better being naive. :o

this is exactly what this type of parent is looking for...ignorant bliss...
when her kid was home he was a "liar," but now that he's telling her what she wants to hear (what HLA forces kids to say under threat of "intervention"), he's a truth-teller. funny how things change, huh?
