Did they lose their certification today?
« on: August 15, 2006, 11:37:32 PM »
I couldn't find out if they lost their state certification or not, but it was supposed to happen today.

Just imagine if there were laws requiring a treatment facility to be shut down if a child dies. There would be SO many fewer places for parents to send their kids for institutionalized child abuse.

Care Facility Being Closed by State

WSAW

August 1, 2006
Angellika Arndt
Angellika Arndt died May 26, 2006 after being physically restrained. Earlier in the day, Angellika was put in a "control hold" for gargling with her milk.

The care facility where a seven-year-old girl died after being restrained is being closed by the state.

Northwest Counseling and Guidance Clinic in Rice Lake will be shutting down for at least six months. The facility's state certification will be pulled August 15th, and all county and state funding will be withdrawn.

An investigation into the clinic was launched after Angellika Arndt died at the clinic in May from injuries she got while being restrained. The state says the clinic failed to adequately address its shortcomings, including limiting use of restraints.

News of the closing, and that the clinic must find other care facilities for the 11 youths they're caring for, came in a letter Friday 7/28.
