Wilderness and Therapudic Boarding school

I just read the book Help at Any Cost.  I wish I had this information when I was having problems with my daughter.  I would NEVER have sent her to wilderness or the therapudic boarding school. I felt I had the best advice I could get from a psychiatrist and educational consultant.  My gut feelings about the TBS made me take my daughter out after only five months.  Thank goodness I did.  She still has problems, but now we deal wtih them and we get along well.  Don't resort to sending a child away.  It cost us a fotune and did nothing to help.

If you actually read the book- the whole book- you would know it is a THERAPEUTIC boarding school.

We continued to have problems with her.  At times she was suicidal, bulimic, cutting, doing drugs.  We found a supportive school, a supportive therapist and I moved her to an apartment with me to get her away from her abusive father.  I spent more time with her, talked about her behaviors, talked about mental illness and treatment options.  She no longer feared punishment for her problems, but support.
She is currently enrolled to begin college in the fall.

Good luck with her.  It's not an easy time and I wish the best for both of you.

Unfortunately, many of these elitist treatment snobs view this as a measure of effectiveness.  The more they pay, the better the facility must be

I'm very happy you were able to see the TBS for what it is and get your kid out quickly.

Good luck.
