I have an important question.  Does anyone remember Denny Debourbon?  We were in Straight together and then became good friends after Straight, then lost touch when I moved back to Houston.  I was told several years ago that he was murdered.  Can anyone confirm or deny?  I have tried to find information on this but no one knows.  Help if you can.

I have to say that I definitely experiencing emotions that I did not expect to feel as I read all of these boards.

My reply:

Sometimes its difficult for me to read these.  All the names and memories.  Its haunting.  Thats the best word for it.  I was in Straight for so long and as much as I try to say that Im Over it, I guess I really never will be.

I find it difficult to sort out my feelings about all of the stories I read here.  I mostly experience a sadness, an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and sadness.  Some of us still arent happy and never will be.  Some of us were so raped of our 'selves' that they have never re-established who they are.  Some of us are still so angry and I wish I could help them move past this and find their center.

I was 15 when I went in to Straight and 17 when I left.  I am 31 now and can say that I couldnt find my place in this world for 10 years after Straight.  I did so many drugs, got into self mutilation and so much more.

We all have a story and I wont tell mine here but I will say that, Straight was beyond horror for a lot of young impressionable minds, young minds that will forever remain stunted by the injustices they suffered at the hands of other young impressionable minds. There are a few of us that even though we were lost for a long time, found our way back, found our happiness and some peace and because of this Straight and all people involved in its creation/ruin did not win.

Besides that I am really happy to see a few of you, beyond all of the bullshit I made some really great friends in Straight and although overshadowed by the fact that I was locked up, I had some great moments.

Thats all...  I just needed to get that out.

Peace and Calm,
Shannon

It takes a village idiot to believe that a family needs instruction from the government to raise a child.

hey, i've been reading this stuff for hours, it's very sad.
how are you? how's your daughter? where are you living?
i'm good, looking for a job.
i just ran into spencer a few weeks ago, he said justin is sleeping on his couch.
i was reading all that stuff about steve & jeff, pretty harsh...i saw steve a few years ago, he had just gotten out of prison, it was too weird, i couldn't keep talking to him...and jeff, i saw jeff in 89 or 90, we hung out a little, he had that nose job, that was weird, very sad that he's dead, but maybe he's in a better place.
i'm a little overwhelmed right now with all this stuff, but i can't stop reading it.

I understand, I was too when I first found this place. I've had issues because of Straight for a long time. Email me, okay. I'll tell you all about us!
