That's a pretty mild story. I like that line about "no police force has been able to validate claims of abuse"
I wonder if it occurred to the reporter that this is because no police force has ever really bothered to investigate.

I cannot figure out for the life of me why this place still remains open? I can understand the anger and frustration that people may have, but I would be very careful if you are thinking about calling, or harrassing his family (wife, and children). They've done nothing.

He does have close ties with our government currently, and I would by no means threaten them. If you wish to write to him, there is no law to say you cannot......but you may not in any way threaten him, or his family.

Tranquilty Bay is an awful place that I truely believe no child on earth deserves to be sent to. I do hope it is shut down. I do hope WWASPS changes it ways, and cuts out all this toughlove bullshit.

Things do need to be done, and changes need to come about. I am not sure why it has taken this long? Or why it is taking this long? I do know that currently most Ed Cons are not referring to WWASPS programs.

There needs for major changes to come about.

Another heartbreaking story, how many of these is it going to take?

You know that sounded very reminiscent of of Richard Bradbury in the early days "WWASPS needs to make some changes"

I disagree CCMgirl, WWASPS needs to be shut down and the people involved need to be doing jail time.

On the other hand I agree with your core point. Harassing the families of WWASPS employees sinks us way past their level and we can't afford to lose the moral high ground.

Shutting SCL down will not help

The one and only solution that will help in the long term is criminal prosection of the owners and staff members of EVERY abusive camp. Lock the fuckers up, then when some other rich asshole decides its time to hide some cash and make some bucks, he won't run to Montana or Nevada to "help teens".

Put them in jail. For a long time. They broke the law, they do not deserve a break. I didn't break ONE SINGLE law before being sent incommunicado to a shithole wwasps camp. Why do they deserve any better?

They all deserve to die in prison, every single one of them. Anything less would not be JUSTICE!

Currently, I have problems with real WWASPS in my house!!!! It's a brand new home for crying out loud! The difference is, we just call the pest control guy, and he comes and takes care of it.

Too bad he can't take care of the current problems with WWASPS (World Wide Association of Specialty Schools). I'll ask him? lol

I wonder if he/she didn't see the rest of the story. At first all I saw was the first page which wasn't much and I was surprised my friend made such a big deal about how sad and tragit it was. I was pissed that they made it sound like WWASP abuse was never substantiated. It appears to end with a stroke for WWASP, but there are more pages. Here's the whole thing

It's not mild - a child who was at WWASP told his story and committed suicide two weeks later. It's tragic, as are the other stories of what these children have had to endure.

I think you may have your programs or associations mixed up.  Bradbury was never involved with WWASPS.  And I don't remember him ever saying that any program needed to "make some changes".  As far as I know he was all about shutting them the fuck down.

Richard Bradbury's first placard read "straight needs to make some changes" I was simply commenting on CCM's very mildly worded criticism of WWASPS.
However, I have to agree with the Anon. Nothing short of prison time could be considered justice.
