Castle- I'm a huge Potter fan- and yes, I'm 25. If people want to make fun of you for it, then they should make fun of me too. I'm pissed that they killed off my favorite character...

Which one, Sirius, or Dumbledore?

I'm still holding out hope that Snape assisted Dumbledore in faking his own death. That would explain why he had to imobilize Potter, wouldn't it? I'm 41 and unashamed, though I guess I never would have taken the time to read the stuff if I didn't have young kids to hide behind.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins; all of them imaginary.

I don't think the death was faked, but I DO think that Dumbledore and Snape were together on this. I'm positive that Snape told Dumbledore about the unbreakable vow he took regarding the protection of Malfoy. Dumbledore practically pleaded with Snape to kill him. I think this was certainly to save Malfoy from having to do it, and forever putting him down the wrong path. Dumbledore was going to die anyway, from drinking the poison. I also think that this is why Snape was so furious when Harry called him a coward. He has been risking his neck spying on voldemort, and just had to kill the one person who knew everything about what he was doing, and who trusted him completely.

This is yet another reason why I think Harry is so damn annoying. He is totally clueless. I also think that a good majority of his magical ability has been gained from Voldemort. In addition, most of the things he has managed to accomplish or save himself from, has been due to dumb luck, or people saving his ass. He has put almost no effort of his own into his education. Even the patronous charm, I believe, was due to voldemort's influence, since voldemort is extremely adept at defense against the dark arts.

I think probably the most adept wizarding student is Hermione, not Harry. Harry is just lucky.

41 years old and reading HARRY POTTER! They should have called it the "41 Year Old Virgin" because you have never been laid.

Woah. Hold on a minute. You have been laid? I don't think that fake jelly pussies really count.

Seriously people. It's a fucking childrens book. If you're reading it to your kids that's one thing. But to read it on your own and think it's ok, damn. I want you to go back to CEDU!

Dude, it's a fucking book. Why do you give a shit what someone else reads?

Something tells me you need more things in your own life to pay attention to.

To be honest, I read the first one at CEDU. And I've never read another one. It was terrible. A half assed attempt at writing. Ooooo some kid is a wizard or some shit and that's about it. Want to read good fantasy, ready The Hobbit, or Lord Of The Rings. Don't fuck around with Harry Potter for Christ's sake!

This THREAD is hilarious.

Thanks for the entertainment, guys.

I agree, though. Tolkein is a MUCH better fantasy writer. I still haven't read the trilogy, (I know, sacrilege. I've been meaning to get around to it), but I have read the Hobbit.

Harry Potter is more along the lines of a teenage soap opera with magic, wheras Tolkein wrote true epics.

If you are into pain, check out Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the Rings. Oh my god, it's awful. Every time I see something by Bakshi I think "Good lord, WHY is this man known for ANYTHING?" (His other movies include Fritz the Cat, [which caused R. Crumb to disown the character and kill him off] American Pop, and Wizards. Although I haven't seen Wizards.) He is the KING of the rotoscope. Rotoscoping can be fun, but it's hard to be taken seriously as an animator if that is ALL you do. Good lord, it really is terrible.

Nasty Hobbits and their nasty little pocketses.
