I sure am glad to see everyone making an effort to see the humor in it all. Strange - check!  Bizarre - check!  weird & surreal lingering effects- check, check, check!!!!

Did you guys know that they billed the parents separately and specifically for "Christmas/Secret Santa"?

The charge...$20

haha! Then my parents should get a refund, because my secret santas never gave me SHIT! (I think I might have gotten something the first year, but nothing the second.)

I think one kid actually got giftwrapped garbage from their secret santa.

As for me, I was a supremely excellent secret santa, if I do say so myself. I never cared if I knew the person well or not. I would ask their friends what the person liked or was into and then I would try to make a gift that was related to their favorite thing.

I so totally loved santa's workshop. We didn't have to work, yay! That was the best thing about it. That was another thing I learned at RMA: scrimshaw! haha.

ok. secret santa was ok, i agree.

but didn't you feel like the "specialness" was a tool used also? I remember feeling incredibly sad during those winters. I remember being so feaked out by the love. by the intensity of bonding around the holiday. because it was good, that in itself made me bonded to people I never talked to again. If you only spent one christmas there and left a month later it would have been a very confusing time.
