Where's it located?  Who owns it?

Focal Point Academy is located in Mesquite, Nevada.
Owners: Glen Horlacher and Shaquel Cannon

Admissions Director: Boyd Hooper

Boyd Hooper formally worked at Sunrise Academy in Utah--and yes, Sue Scheff at PURE referred to this school. Stands to reason, she still has a  "working relationship with Boyd Hooper."

All these people are from Utah.

According to the website on Focal Academy, the owners are following the standards from Utah:
"Fully accredited" by Northwest Association.
Levels program
Peer culture--with Peer Group Leaders
Behavior Modification therapy
Computer-based education (self-taught)

Education (secondary importance)
Scheduled from 1PM until 4PM

Lots of "chore time and GROUP therapy time" scheduled.

This is an all boys school that accepts only 15 at this time.

Only thing that seems to be missing is the ole "Equine Horse Therapy Program."

Sorry, what I remembered:
According to the website on Focal Academy, the owners are following the standards from Utah:

Why would they follow Utah standards?

Then, are they licensed in Nevada?
As a:
?Child care institution?
?Group home?
?Outdoor youth program?
?Special needs facility?

Wait a minute.  I thought Dr. Phil condoned Copper Canyon on a show of his in Feb. of this year -- an institution known to humilitate young girls who have experienced hard times.  Why would an activist against institutionalised child and teen abuse promote someone so ignorant?

Who said Sue Scheff is an activist against institutionalized child and teen abuse?  She's in the business of referring kids into programs (that pay her a referral fee) not saving children from being put into one.

Read the documentation revealed in the WWASPS v. PURE transcripts. It will open your eyes about profiteers disguised as teen helpers and anti-teen helpers all doing the same thing.

PURELY DISGUSTING!

So does Sue Scheff also refer kids to Copper Canyon?
Seems Whitmore Academy isn't the only abusive facility this woman loves sending helpless kids to for the almighty dollar. Just pitiful.
And she dares to criticize WWASP? She's as bad as they are.

The website for a description of Nevada's BUREAU OF SERVICES FOR CHILD CARE IS:
http://www.dcfs.state.nv.us/DCFS-OLd-Site/page23.html

Paula A. Hawkins is the Bureau Chief  email:
[email protected]

Perhaps she can answer some questions about Focal Point Academy licensing status?

Would think Focal Point Academy is following Utah's "standards" because these owners are from Utah, and probably left there because MAYBE they didn't want to adhere to the new licensing laws that apply to boarding schools and thereauputic facilities in Utah now.

Why doesn't ISAC have a list of referral agencies like PURE are known to accept finder's fees from the programs they refer to?   Wouldn't that help broaden "parent awareness since one could argue this presents a CONFLICT OF INTEREST parents should be advised of? (AKA "Full Disclosure")

How about it?  Any parents out there who did business with PURE or some other outfit like them but didn't know the program they placed their child in paid the referral agency for the referral?

What about transport agencies REFERRED by these outfits?  Do they pay finder's fees too?

Why don't you send them one?

Can we start a list here?  On a separate thread and people can add to it as they become aware of these types of outfits?

ISAC is great but I think Fornits reaches a wider audience by virtue of the diverse forums and also, the rampant talking out of group which tends to encourage INFORMATION being passed along sans the B.S. and/or propaganda.

Just an idea.

Thanks alot!
