That's a tasty play list, Froderick.  Not many people give props to Television's Adventure.  "Ain't that Nuthin" is a killer track.

True, but the live version from the San Fran '77 show, which is now an offficial release after having been heavily circulated for years, blows it away.  The live versions of "Marquee Moon" and "Little Johnny Jewel" kick the studio versions around, too.

Yeah, I spent the jing when it was released on...what was it, Rhino's Handmade label?  Couldn't figure out why it was so expensive until I saw how limited the pressing was.  You're definitely right, the live "Little Johnny Jewel" makes the studio version sound a bit weak.

"I want my little wing-head..."

I wish there were a way to clean up ROIR's "Blow Up", but the guitar work on there is still monster.

Verlaine's Noo Yawk accent and quavering vocals make it a thing to behold.  They kick "Fire Engine" like shit farmers on speed.  Richard Lloyd played that for years live, and fuck me if I can remember the name of the live record he did, but it blew Alchemy away, especially "Soldier Blue".  Lloyd's a sick player, there's a bootleg of Alex Chilton and the Cossacks with Lloyd on guitar, and you'd know it was him playing without a credit.

I want a Jazzmaster like Verlaine's in the worst way, or even the duct taped one Thurston Moore gets the noise on.  With my discount from Allparts catalog, I can put together a better Jazzmaster than Fender's making these days for half the price.  Screw Fender.

Yeah, he even leaves the "let me take you to DMT place" line intact.  He did that one on the Roky Erickson tribute, which  I'm sure you know, but "I just" wanted to name-drop Roky......

Have you ever heard the eponymous Television album that came out in 1986?  Some cool stuff on there, my fave being "Call Mr. Lee".  I've heard they have been playing one-off shows around NYC in the last couple of years.

Always good to name-drop Roky Erickson!  "Red Temple Prayer (Two Headed Dog)" is the shit, whether it's Roky's version or Sister Double Happiness.

I have the 1986 album,  I can only remember "Call Mr. Lee",  the local indy station played it a lot.  Live recordings of recent shows sound great.

Damn, I stand corrected...I've had that "Fire Engine" lyric wrong.  I thought it was "let me take you to the empty place"...The funniest misheard song lyric (title) I've ever heard was from a friend of mine who was playing top 40-classic rock shit in Holiday Inn lounges for a while.  This wasted drunk dude comes up to my friend during a break and asks if they would play a request.  My friend says "Yeah, if we can, we'll take a shot...what song?"

The drunk says, "You know dat song...uh..."Bingo Jet Got a Light On"...that one..."

"Bingo Jet Got a Light On?  Um...no.  Why don't you run it down for me?"

So the guy slurs the words and melody, and it becomes apparent what the dude wants:  "Jet Airliner", by the Steve Miller Band...you know, "Big Old Jet Airliner..."

So they played it, and sang the chorus as "Bingo Jet Got a Light On"...

Oh hell yes it is.  Good enough to name your email address after, and abbreviate for your fornits screen name.  In an interview I read, Roky said it was about "this friend of mine named Pavlov.  He's a real good scientist."

Nice.  I'd love to see them play, but I doubt they go very far out of the northeast.

Well, it's an Uncle Remus sort of thing, he's making a play on words.

There's actually a term for misheard song lyrics, called "mondegreens", after a much-misunderstood English folksong many believed to be about "Lady Mondegreen", which was not the correct line, which was "laid him on the green", but sung with an accent that made it seem otherwise to many listeners.  Then some dork researched it and got a thoroughly useless degree afterwards.  Just thought I'd share....
