Athens eye movement?    Just dont cover that insipid shiny, happy, people thing.....imho a pandering, insipid song. :nods:

So true, that song makes me cringe. Sad, cause I really like REM alot but that particular tune makes me wanna hurt something every time I hear it.
"Don't Go Back to Rockville" is one of my favorites. When I was in Atlanta Straight I spent my last few months there living with a family in Rockville. They were such nice people, I think about them every time I hear that song.
"Rockville" is prolly bout my fave REM cut, I dont hate REM they just kind bitched up at a point. I like "rockville" cause it reninds me of The byrds, tom petty, or best yet GRAM PARSONS.......I got oddball roots in delta blues, classic country,(not the weak assed shit of today) Early punk (like THE FUGS)and old ska records( Kinda reminds me of rockabilly)
In a perfect world...Id really like to make an(and I HATE this term) alt country record with Gram Parsons,Pop Staples,Keith Richards,Lazy Lester.....and have Steve Earle produce it. Consider that parsons, and staples are dead, and that I havent won the lotto....y'know...... :waaaa:

I LOVE the black crowes "jealous again" I love how on the recoeding you can hear the snare rattle in the begining of the song , just from the guitar amp.To me thats a huge indicator of "Here it comes and we dont give a fuck" REAL. Kinda a sort of abandon that is unheard of today. Let the music do the talkin kidna vibe. sort of ominous ina way, musical foreshadowing.         Am I REALLY crazy or does anybody else get it.  :dose:

The first black crows album has one of my all time fav. drum mixes. In fact I have used samples of the opening snare from sure hard to handle. Real fat. But they didn't get the same mix an latter albums, but still some good songs though.

The Charlie Daniels Band A new poem by Charlie called "I Remember Tommy" is now posted in Discussions. R.I.P., Ol' T.C.
I Remember Tommy
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?filter ... anielsband

The Charlie Daniels Band

For a thousand nights he stood by my side with the rest of the boys in the band

When he’d grab that Les Paul by the nap of its neck, it was just like part of his hand

Ol’ T.C. was a natural; it came easy for him his fingers would fly like the wind

It was way past just thinking about what lick to play, that guitar would do magic for him

He took me to heights I may never have known if he hadn’t come into my life

When you’d trade licks with Tommy, you’d best bring it all, because that’s what he did every night

We were too hot to handle and to wild to tame and the jams were bodacious and loud

Some nights the music would take us so high that’s it seemed we were up in the clouds

Late nights on the bus with my brothers in arms rolling on toward tomorrow nights’ stage

Pickin’ old country songs on acoustic guitars still pumped from the music we’d played

The good times the bad times the road and the crowds yes the memories roll on without end

Of a time in my life when we burned up the stage with Ol’ T.C., my brother, my friend

Rest in peace, old friend. Thank you for passing my way.

Love,

Charlie Daniels

I too remember, some of you folks remember?
