Little Feat is a great band, seen 'em about 3 times, but of course Lowell was way dead by then.  You never hear them on the radio.  They are way under-rated.  Whenever the heady kids come to party with me at my house an' I put  some ol' Little Feat on the turntable they can't believe it and don't understand how they never heard of 'em.  Same goes for Robert Palmers' classic album: "Sneakin' Sally Thru the Alley", although I do hear that very ocaisionally on the air.

I share the same birthdate as Lowell. His ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean from his fishing boat. Yes they were and still are way under-rated. Most musicians with any knowledge or taste would tell you the same.

While driving on icy highways with blowing snow  this morning trying to stay alive in the middle lane sandwiched between SUV's with Starbucks caffienated surburban sprawl lunatics going 90 MPH in the Detroit suburbs and praying to stay alive I was listening to Pink Floyd - The Wall.

Too busy trying to stay alive to even dare reach for another cd.

Webcrawler(shakin' my head)...I worry about you too.

Today:

Yusef Lateef - "The Blue Yusef Lateef" (LP)

CTI Summer Jazz series; featuring: George Benson, Grover Washington jr., Freddie Hubbard and Milt Jackson - "Live One At the Hollywood Bowl":

1) "Grits Bowl"
2) "Inner City Blues/What's Goin' On" (Marvin Gaye cover)
3)"California Dreamin"(tight cover of the Mamas and the Papas)
4)"First Light"

Art Farmer w/Yusef Lateef and the Dave Mathews(not the Dave Mathews you're pro'ly thinkin' of) Big Band:

1)"Spandu"
2)"Spain"

Live Canned Heat:
(scored this at the Sal for only 50 cents. It didn't have no case.  I brought it home and promptly re-recorded it.)

1)"(When Things Go Wrong) It Hurts Me Too"
2)"I'd Rather Be the Devil"
3)"Wish You Would"
4)"Dust My Broom"
5)"Sweet 16"
6)"Bullfrog Blues"

Dragonfly(not his real name, he's a str8 survivor) - Grieving In Woodfin:

1)"Daddy Why"
2)"Precious Life"
3)"Taking Flight"
4)"This Game"
5)"2 Pear Trees"

Then about 10pm I walked about a half mile down E. Washington st. to the Villanova Inn, which is a small, strictly  blues bar and there's never a cover.  I caught Glen Pavone and the Cyclones.  They're outta Pittsburgh.  I had seen 'em once about 11 years ago down at Genes', 'cross the Mon' river and thru the ol' liberty tubes from the city, which the drummer tol' me aint 'round no mo', Genes' that is not the city, I think Pittsburgh is still in the same place.  I knew they would tear the joint down and I was not dissapointed.  Uhh...I don't have a set list, but they did play 3 sets and featured such standards as "Little Wing" and "Voo-doo Chil'".  I think they played some obscure Beatles tune and a couple S.R.V. songs, and some stuff I had never heard.  There were a lot of musicians in the crowd and no shortage of sexxxy women there all dancin and shakin' what they got.  The last set was the best.  They had the room mesmerized by then and were playin' a lot of slow and languid instrumental blues...you know stuff that requires a lot 'a' touch.  Fuckin nice.  I cut out as soon as they were done. Stayin' outta trouble don't'cha know.

Anybody hear about a Layne Staley tribute show with the members of AIC playing with different singers (Maynard from Tool, Mark Lanagan from Sreaming Trees, etc.)?  A dude I know claims to have seen it somewhere.......can't seem to find it.
