The Problem with hla ezboard message boards:
Quoted from the letter I got that arrived yesterday:
"WELCOME!!! This ite has been designed to present an Open Window into Hidden Lake Academy. The rules of the site are simple.....honesty prevails; genuine feelings......real letters.....an open window. HLA is providing this discussion board where HLA parents, alumni. or our current students can post and communicate with each other.
For Parents: It is a difficult decision to place your child in a Theraputic Boarding School. It is our hope by presenting an hones discussion board, it will answer the many questions that you have, dispel the myths and so many untruths, and help you reach a better comfort zone regarding your dicision."
My problem with this: It's a fine idea to create a positive message board for HLA, however, regardless of if you've been through the program or not, claiming that the posts will "dispel the myths and so many untruths" should make any insightful reader wary. The very fact that this is stated in the 5th sentence of a two page letter is concerning and doesn't help to make me feel that this is a completely positive intention.
The letter also asks that the posts be appropriate (translated, means > appropriate in a general sense but my gut feeling tells me that this also means no anti-hla business. I respect this and if others respect this too then those who stand against HLA would probably stay away from the hla ezboard, if not out of respect, then simply because there aren't enough people who feel the same way on that board and hla bashing always feels more validated when others are doing it beside you. (Let me note that I'm not an hla basher but I choose to discuss my personal experience at hla only when asked.)
Bottom line: The HLA section of Fornits is run by those that oppose, even hate the school and are supported by people who think likewise. The ezboard HLA board is run by HLA staff in support of their school and will most likely have a following of those who feel likewise.
There is no "open window."
Thank you and wishing you all a very happy holiday!
