Info on the NWA riot?

Hi there,

I just cam upon this site and keep seeing talk about some NWA Riot....i was at NWA in 1992, actaully, i ran from there. (yes, i made it!)
When was the riot? i guess it was big given the talk about it....was Carol( the staff) still there? Involved? Which kids were there and invoved?

Just my morbid curiosity..........

I was there in '98-2000 and I'm not sure if I was a part of the "Riot" or not. While I was there, a few kids one night did get a little rowdy, but it was far from a riot. It was just a few kids getting all pissed off and refusing to go to sleep. While that's the short story, there is a longer one involving a girl cutting her wrists and staff members being called in at like 3:00am. But overall the "riot" I was involved in was far from that. I don't know if there was another one before or after I was there, but I can't comment on those.

I heard about a riot where kids really got out of control. I knew Sam Zug at BCA and apparently he got fucked up pretty bad by some students. I also heard about people barricading themselves in the bridge and making "demands". But I haven't been able to have any of that confirmed around here.

I vaguely rememer Sam Zugg getting hurt by a few students, but I don't remember how or why. As far as students barricading themselves somewhere and making demands, it never happened.

For those of you who don't know...I got there in '96 and right before that the riots happened. It closed NWA down for a while. Basically - a bunch of students were having sex and going crazy while some others beat up some staff and put a few in the hospital. Some of the kids came to BCA after the riot- most of them spent some time at NIBH or at Ascent and then were assigned to other schools. There were a few teachers and staff at BCA that were involved. Ariel Gunn was pretty traumatized by the whole thing as far as I can remember there were at least 5 raps where she talked about it. Lacey was a big part- don't remember her last name. She stayed at BCA after she graduated to finish her diploma, but eventually got kicked out.

Helps, but I'd still really like to hear about it from someone who was actually there when it happened. I find it hard to believe that no one who has come across these boards was at NWA to witness it.

well i got to NWA in 2003 and supposedly there was a riot just before i got there.  About 12 kids got sent to different lock downs, hospitals, home etc.  Supposedly a lot of people were fucking and after everything was done they found tons of blunt weapons in the dorms.

How the hell does that constitute a riot?? Sounds like they found the goods and PREVENTED the riot. When I was at BCA I had a knife in my dorm, I fucked 3 girls in one week, smoked a blunt up on the quest trail with my buddy, and then shot a fire extinguisher off at LaTresa. Does that mean I started a riot, too??? YES, I AM A RIOTER!!!
